Government stands by Iraq-Niger nuclear link (UK: separate evidence)
Edited on Wed Jul-09-03 11:06 AM by Nambe
LONDON (Reuters)

The government has defended its allegations that Saddam Hussein sought uranium from Niger for a nuclear weapons programme, saying its evidence is separate from forged information used by Washington to make the same case.

Prime Minister Tony Blair's spokesman said Britain had "different knowledge" from the United States to back up its charge, set out in Blair's September 2002 dossier on Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction.

"We included it in the dossier on our own analysis and assessment," Blair's spokesman told reporters on Wednesday. ---

"I don't know where the Americans got their information from. Our information comes from good, reliable sources -- not British sources, which is why we were never at liberty to pass anything to the Americans," a British official, who declined to be named, told Reuters.

He declined to say exactly who had provided the information used by Britain.

2. The phone lines are burning up between Bush & Blair
to try to get their stories straight. Both obviously see this as a potentially catastrophic issue for their regimes.

4. It's TRUE!
They based their claims on Israeli intelligence, which was based on the forged document, not on the forged document itself!

(and no, that isn't anti-Israeli... the Israelis made the claim themselves)

19. Thank you!!!
I thought I remembered that, at one point, Israel was admitting to having evidence of this. But then that piece of the puzzle seemed to vanish. Do you have a citation for Israeli intelligence involvement?

then why didn't they send the "evidence-that-was-not-forged" to the IAEA, so its inspectors could
expose Saddam's "noocular" progam?

Blair has lost touch with reality. He doesn't know anymore how
to spin out of the web of lies he made...

Stick a fork in him...

8. That Is True, My Friend
If they had real evidence, it would have been produced by now.

The thing was a lie from start to finish, and known to be a lie by every reptile who uttered it.

haven't talked with you in a long time.
Let me just add that to process the infamous Niger uranium there
would have to be industrial facilities that haven't been found yet!

18. Incompetence, My Friend
It angers me more than damned near anything: even in an enemy, it riles me to see such idiocy in the craftwork, on a personal level. Still, it is a fitting ornament for a foe, and it is a damned good thing this was such a poor job.

10. Advice to Labour Party: Use Lewis Carroll Strategy
Most effective way to preserve your reelection chances:
  1. Obtain a large burlap sack.
  2. Stuff Tony Blair into sack.
  3. Tie sack shut.
  4. Sit on sack.

If you don't shut the twit up soon, he'll make your party seem as bad as our Republicans really are.

13. Heeey, wait a second!
Don't the Bushies claim to have gotten the Niger uranium story from the Brits? And now Tony is saying they got it from us??

These people make the Keystone Cops look like a SWAT team.

14. Imagine...
I'd love to see the transcript between Bush and Blair trying to dig themselves out of this one. It would probably go something like...

T: How about you say I said it?

G: But I already said I said it, and said what I said was wrong?

T: Well, how about I say I had another secret source, and say
I said it because the source said it?

G: That might work. Then if I say I said it because you said it, this time I'll be right.

T: I think it would work.

G: You went first last time, so maybe I should go first this time.

T: Ah, that won't work, because you already said you said it because I said it, so that means I have to go first, then you saying what I said will be true.

G: Got it. So I'm not first?

T: That is correct. Unless you want to say you had secret information I didn't have, which meant I was right when I said it, even though I didn't know it at the time.

G: Whew. Lot of moving pieces there, especially since I already said I knew what I said that you said was wrong.

T: Yeah, that won't work. So I'll go first.

G: Hope this works.

T: Me too...

17. There was a time that I thought I could think clearly,
but I must have been fooling myself for many years.

I can't keep track of the affirmations or denials anymore within Bush's* or Blair's administrations.

However, these people must be living in a metaphysical reality that I do not share. I thought this was one of those situations that a simple yes or no answer would do.

Someone needs to tell these folks that we use oil in vehicles and machinery. We don't drink it.
