Rumsfeld: U.S. Troops Arresting Suspects in Falluja
"They have captured a number of people over the last 36 hours. The city is isolated. A number of people have resisted and been have killed. It will be a methodical effort to find the individuals who were involved," he added.

Here's what I don't get. Now the Marines get shot at trying to "arrest" the perpetrators. Who's going to "arrest" the ones that shoot at them.

1. Rumsfeld is senile
It's time for him to go and retire.

He is pure evil----- a modern day Darth Vader.

He and Ala. Senator Shelby should get together and organize their thoughts. Shelby thinks the US has the option of sending US troops stationed in Germany. Uh, they're already there, Senator, with some divisions having completed their year deployment but still not released from their down-range deployment commitment.

Commanders' options are as follows:

_Troops already inside Iraq could be moved around.

_Troops eventually headed for Iraq, now training in nearby Kuwait, could be sent early.

_More troops could be sent from the United States — either reservists or active duty troops who have already served.

Officials said they also are talking to six more countries about the possibility of contributing forces. Such talks have continued throughout the campaign but have brought in only 24,000 international troops, compared with 135,000 Americans in Iraq.

"I'm fearful of sending more American troops who will be drawn from the guard and reserve forces once again," said Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb. "That's when we're going to exacerbate what I believe is a looming retention and recruitment problem."

...cut...

Rumsfeld said commanders on the scene, including Abizaid, are constantly reviewing the situation and troop needs.

"They are the ones whose advice we follow on these things," Rumsfeld said during an appearance in Norfolk, Va., with NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

"They will decide what they need, and they will get what they need," Rumsfeld said.

Rummy doesn't acknowledge that our generals had begged him for more troops 12 months ago. Now we are suffering troop loss at 5.57 per day, "bested" only by the invasion of March 2003 with a 7.65 daily fatality rate.

2. I soaked the Rummy voodoo
doll in lighter fluid, burned it to a crisp, and he's still there.

Which is proof that Rummy is not a human.

5. Make up your mind, "Is this a war or a law enforcement activity?"
My favorite was that Dan Senor announcing the warrant for the arrest of Sadr. In other words, "Quick! Everyone run home and get your guns and RPG's."

8. Look at how much longer Senor's face is than Kimmet's.
And that Gen. Kimmet always looks like one VERY unhappy camper.

10. That Iraqi judge is now likely retired and living in Montana.
I LOVED when the reporters asked them if the arrest warrant for murder had ANYTHING to do with what had happened on Friday and Senor said, "no." Too bad we couldn't hear the laughter from the press briefing room.

15. Their motives are so transparent and that is why it really galls me to
even be annoyed with their spewage. I do think Sadr was goaded into this mess. I think he would have been wise to avoid the trap they set for him. They gave him the reason to put a noose around his neck. But it's too late for that now. And it's too late for him and his followers to do anything but kill our troops. It is very dangerous to put a man in the position of having nothing to lose, especially when the other side has so much to lose.

But I don't think these morons who came up with the pathetically sick idea realise that once the genii is out of the bottle, they aren't going to be able to put it back in again without lighting the entire country on fire. And the only option left is the mass killing and incarceration of thousands of Iraqis. And in the long run, that will end very very very badly for the United States. Because we aren't just going to be fighting Iraqis and followers of Sadr, we will end up fight the entire Middle East.

17. Rummy may think the noose is around Sadr's neck now
But that noose may slip off of his neck and on to theirs quite easily (figuratively, at least). Arresting, trying and possibly executing a nationalist hero is a time tested way to unite your enemies.

19. Just more bodies...

... to join the tens of thousands already being "detained" in concentration camps in Iraq. Of course, this being the new democracy and all, it may take a few years (if ever) to actually press charges and goodness knows there just aren't enough lawyers. Sometimes there isn't even enough time to let the families know how their loved ones "disappeared".

Gee, do ya think Iraqis have been down this road before?

14. Falluja has 250,000 people in it
You arrest ten-twenty but there are always more-its their country!-arrests will be to Iraq as body counts are to vietnam-what a disaster-and we are trying to win hearts and minds too-apparently the military doesn't have enough translators -I can't even imagine how bad street encounters are if the troops don't understand the locals let alone operating a justice system

18. Resistance is futile
"A number of people have resisted and been have killed."

Rumsfeld's not sugar coating it, is he? Surround the city, shell and bomb it - if you resist, you will be killed. He's back to full scale war on all Iraqis.
