Republicans acknowledge debt limit should rise

By David Lawder, Andy Sullivan and Glen Somerville

(Reuters) - Republicans acknowledged on Thursday they will have to sign off on more deficit spending to avoid a debt default that would roil financial markets and bring the government to a grinding halt.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner pressed lawmakers to raise the nation's $14.3 trillion debt limit to allow the United States to borrow more and avert a crisis in the coming months.

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, a Republican, said he recognized the need to allow the government to go deeper in debt.

"Will the debt ceiling ... have to be raised? Yes," said Ryan, who leads Republican efforts to slash deficit spending.

1. That's going to go really bad for them.
The Republicans don't realize just how small of a corner it is that they've painted themselves into.

As metaphor, and literally. Is it about winning without a point of result. Or is it just a game with no consequences.

If you can be gotten to play a game, then the thought of what is important can be removed by someone that sets what winning is. What if you were told winning was being rich, or winning was being poor, or winning was walking away from life, or wining was fighting for life. As soon as someone tells you what winning is, and that is hard to avoid, then if you play the game, they control your direction. If you can't block out someone telling you what winning is, not playing the game is another way to avoid someone keeping you from feeling or thinking what is best.

What is winning. Once you don't know, you can't play the game.

The game for me would be trying to correct the wrong done of the taking of beer and travel money years ago. Although really that is just saying things in the way that pool on the road was also about. It is a metaphor.

And not 'playing the game for beer and travel money' while knowing I should have beer and travel money is a really interesting thought. And I never really played pool to win money. Nor do I go to the bars to drink beer. It is to be around friends and to have a challenge that does not hurt anyone, since I have to want to win to win in a pool game. And that is not based on taking someones money. Or something like that.

The Movie War games had the concept of letting the game play the game. That is an interesting thought.
