Wife visits jailed Chinese Nobel winner Liu Xiaobo
Source: BBC

The wife of jailed Nobel prize-winning dissident Liu Xiaobo has reportedly been allowed to meet her husband.

Liu Xia said her husband wept during their prison meeting, dedicating his Nobel Peace Prize to the "martyrs" of Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Rights groups say Mrs Liu has not been allowed to leave her Beijing home since visiting her husband.

China reacted angrily to the decision to honour Mr Liu, calling him a criminal and protesting to Norway.

3. Good to know she is alright.
Earlier reports said people were worried about her as she had disappeared and was not answering her cell phone.

Maybe they are beginning to realize that with most of the world watching, it would not help them to put this woman in jail also.

Maybe they would respond to a threat to cut them off financially from the rest of the world. Appeals asking them to respond morally have failed. Money talks. I think it's time to threaten with sanctions. After all we do not hesitate to sanction other countries for similar behavior. Why not China?

5. Liu Xiaobo is an agent of the United States
Liu Xiaobo has received hundreds of thousands of US government funding via the NED in the past five years to conduct domestic political activity in China (including advocating abolition of China’s constitution.) Check NED’s China grants for Independent Chinese Pen Center and Minzhu Zhongguo magazine, which Liu heads.

If Liu were American he would be in violation of FARA (Foreign Agent Registration Act). Ron Paul had once commented “What the NED does in foreign countries… would be rightly illegal in the United States”.

6. Clarification, Liu Xiaobo's associations have recieved hundreds of thousands...
...from NED. That does not magically make Liu Kiaobo less convicted in his beliefs than he would be otherwise: remember, this is a person who was jailed on multiple occasions before recieving a dime from NED.
