Tennessee House commends Arizona on immigration law
Source: The Tennessean

The Tennessee House has passed a resolution to commend Arizona on its tough new immigration law.

The chamber voted 67-25 on Monday to pass the resolution sponsored by Republican Rep. Joe Carr of Lascassas.

The measure congratulates Arizona lawmakers and Gov. Jan Brewer for "their actions to protect their citizens and the borders of our great nation."

Democratic House Minority Leader Gary Odom of Nashville said Tennessee shouldn't become involved in the national controversy over the law and argued that the resolution could cause the state to lose hotel and convention business.

1. Not surprised by this. Unfortunately TN has become way too red.
The Reds now control our state congress. Not just the fiscally conservative Reds, but the bat-shiit crazy, uber-force-backwoods-Christianity-on-everyone-or-persecute-them Reds.

These are scary times in TN. I pray Mike McWhorther can defeat Bill Halsam for gov. The only thing saving us now is our current gov. is Dem.

7. Please remember there are a few of us "good guys" here.
Tennessee is a beautiful state with many lovely people. Unfortunately, lots are misguided & often poorly educated. Just take note of the states that spend the least on education & you'll find a direct correlation with redness. It's by design. Corporations need cheap labor. Keep 'em dumb & pay 'em peanuts, then pocket the profits for ourselves. Use fear & innuendo to distort the reality. This is also why immigration is such a hot issue.

Don't know the statistics on Tea Partiers, but I'd guess TN is one of the top states members/capita.:(

<sigh>

3. My Home State Never Fails to Disappoint me
They are land-locked. They have no foreign borders but they sure have foreign ideas. Is there any irony in the fact the idiot Joe Carr is from a place called "Lascassas?" Sounds awful furn'en and Hispanic to me.

9. This is sad, buy TN is not the only state
where State Reps are looking to go the way of Arizona. Here in MA, a group of legislators introduced several anti-immigrant measures on the budget to be voted this Wednesday. Although I believe the likelihood of something like this passing here is low, it is starting to get pretty hot. Both opponents of Gov. Patrick (the tea partier and the repub) have praised the Arizona bill. And after Scott Brown, I wouldn't doubt anything.
