Missouri hatemonger runs racist radio ads... to get elected to U.S. Senate

A Missouri man is counting on write-in votes - and racist radio ads - to catapult him into the United States Senate.

69-year-old bigot Glenn Miller, a leader of the White Patriot's Party during the 1980s, has paid for a series of offensive advertisements to be played on a local station. And there apparently is nothing the radio station can do about it.

“The company is required by federal law to run these spots and to do so without any edits,” Neil Larrimore, KMBZ program director, told the Kansas City Star. “Our hands are tied.”

One of the statements Miller makes in his ads includes, "Jews control the federal government and the media. Surely you don't still believe white men are in control, do ya? It's the Jews, stupid."

In another, he states: "The future of white children will be a nightmare."

Radio stations are not allowed by law to turn down any ones campaign ads. It is a law from the F.C.C. They also must give them their cheapest rate. The only time they can turn someone down is if they are sold out on the amount of time given to Political ads. But even then a station would rather get the ad on if possible. Most stations would rather do without political ads.

(a) If any licensee shall permit any person who is a legally qualified candidate for any public office to use a broadcasting station, he shall afford equal opportunities to all other such candidates for that office in the use of such broadcasting station: Provided, That such licensee shall have no power of censorship over the material broadcast under the provision of this section.

If they've accepted ads in the recent past for other candidates, they have to air his unedited. Only if they don't air any election ads can they refuse the material.

That's 100% correct. I'm a traffic manager for a tv station so it's my job to handle it when it comes up. Especially if his opponent(s) in the race had already bought time, there's nothing the station can do but sell him equal avails at identical rates to his opponents. All the info pertaining to political advertising must be maintained in the stations public file. Any member of the general public may inspect the stations public file during business hours so it isn't hard for candidates to find out who has bought spots and rate info. If anyone in the race had indeed bought time the station is telling the truth, there's not a damn thing they can do but run his ads.

station and they thrive on this.

They said they are required to "run these spots and to do so without any edits" but just because they have to run someone's ads does not mean they are bound to having to play whatever ad that person wants. If so, someone with some money to burn should have them run an ad where they use the "N" word and I'm sure they won't play it.
