Marian Bauerle struggled for years to find affordable medication that would control her blood pressure while not emptying her wallet.
She was tired of paying sky-high prices, so she decided to try the state's new prescription drug program in June. Instead of paying $321 every three months, she now pays $158. That's an annual savings of more than $650, sweet music to Bauerle's not-so-flexible budget.
"I'm not going to go to the casino with my savings, I'll tell you that," said the 81-year-old Bauerle, of Marana. "I'll buy some odds and ends, maybe some socks or maybe a new shirt. This will make a big difference. Hey, I live on a fixed income."
