Spain to extradite 'dirty war' pilot to Argentina

A Spanish court has agreed to extradite a pilot held for his alleged role in Argentina's "dirty war".

Julio Alberto Poch, 57, an airline pilot, has been in custody in Madrid since his arrest last month.

He is wanted in Argentina for allegedly flying planes used to dump opponents of the military regime into the sea - known as "death flights".

Some 30,000 people disappeared or died during the junta's 1976-1983 rule. He denies the allegations.

Spain to extradite 'dirty-war' pilot

Spain's High Court has ordered the extradition of a Dutch-Argentine pilot to Argentina to face charges of throwing political prisoners out of aircraft into the sea under the military dictatorship 30 years ago.

Julio Alberto Poch, 57, was arrested in Spain last year after an Argentine judge travelled to Europe and spoke to colleagues of Poch who said he had boasted about hurling drugged prisoners into the River Plate or the Atlantic Ocean.

A retired Argentine navy lieutenant, Poch also holds Dutch nationality which protected him from extradition until he landed in Spain on a stopover en route to the Netherlands on Sept. 22.

He works for Holland's Transavia, an airline owned by Air France-KLM. "Poch threw several live people out of aeroplanes or helicopters which he flew as a naval air officer on pilot duty in the Argentine Navy between 1976 and 1980," a High Court statement said.

3. If true....what's good for the goose is good for the gander!
If this is true, he needs to be brought to justice, and all the rest of the scum that abused Argentina during those years deserves the same. They got some "genes" from the Nazi's that ran there at the end of the war.

Disgusting!!

5. There are NO secrets in aviation,
There is probably no other industry where more sensitive information is purely public record, where a specific plane flew, who flew it and for whom is not difficult to discover.

Those who participated in torture renditions will be hunted for decades.

6. I hope the souls of those you tortured and killed,
Mr. Poch, haunt you every day that you walk this earth. Evil, evil fucker.
