Students Get Candid Talk from Jared Polis
Source: Broomfield Enterprise

The most notable thing about U.S. Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) was the questions students did not ask. They did not ask about Death Panels, Obama`s birth certificate or whether the president`s video appeal to "stay in school" amounted to political indoctrination.

On the day it was reported that a pro-healthcare demonstrator in California bit the pinky off an anti-reformer who punched him in the face, an attentive, polite audience of students in the Legacy 2000 Program -- or L2K -- asked questions ranging from concerns about global warming and deficits to school vouchers and balancing a private life in politics.

1. Nice to see that the young people are more respectful and intelligent than the town-hall-shouters
who are three or four times their age. I guess today's average 16 year old isn't hung up on outdated fears of "socialism".

5. My dirty laundry is more respectful and intelligent than those folks.
Not to take anything away from those students, of course, but that is a bar set pretty low.

6. These young people haven't seen their life savings and their home
values stolen by Wall Street run amok. These young people are looking toward the future. The Teabaggers have very little to look forward to. The only people talking to middle aged and older people in this country are on Fox News. Democrats are not speaking to seniors at all.

7. I wouldn't say that...
Obama has talked about many issues that affect the lives of seniors.
Off the top of my head... closing the doughnut hole in Medicare for prescription drugs, making the system better to where older people can stay in their home with care-givers instead of going into a nursing home, negotiating for better prices of prescription drugs for those on Medicare, etc.

8. Do you really think that any of that will survive the beating that Obama's hopes
are getting in Congress? I assure you that seniors are not hearing these promises.

10. As a whole, most teenagers are much more level-headed than most people over 50.
