Senior Tories' links with Republican NHS-bashers revealed
Source: The Telegraph UK

The emergence of links between the Tory front bench and Americans opposed to the NHS is embarrassing to Mr Cameron, who has spent much of the last few days defending the British healthcare system from attack by Mr Hannan.

While the Atlantic Bridge is a respected body on both sides of the Atlantic, the views of Mr Campbell and others will raise eyebrows, as will the suggestion that the Tories' main links with American politicians are with individuals opposed to their views on health.

The U.S. right wing bashing the British system could backfire on the Americans if this controversy see's more light.

3. Same Thing In Canada
The New Canadian PM.

National Citizens Coalition (NCC) – Harper's presidency was a critical period

The NCC is a well-funded right-wing Canadian lobby group that has been heavily involved in advertising and political campaigns and legal challenges in support of its goals of "more freedom with less government." The impetus that led Colin M Brown to found the organization in 1967 was his stalwart opposition, as an insurance agent and doctor's son, to public health insurance or "socialized medicine," as it was framed at the time by its opponents. The NCC has publicly stated that as a matter of principle it conceals the names of the interests that fund its campaigns. In January 1997, Stephen Harper quit his Parliamentary seat and was named Vice-President of the NCC the same day.

5. US insurers have been trying for years to make inroads
Have read several articles over the years about US insurers and for profit hospital organizations working behind the scenes in Canada to make inroads into their system. Same as the crowd here that believes in rampant unrestrained capitalism. Perhaps our recent near collapse that almost took the world with it has caused the public there to look less favorably on these ideas.

4. Campbell is lying. No one is suggesting that America operate a health care system, only
that America make privately provided health care services more affordable.

Socialized medicine for America is a big lie. Unfortunately, even some supporters of single payer on MSNBC seem confused about that and are defending it as socialized medicine.

Think medicare. Think Medicaid. They make health care affordable or free, but the US government does not own and operate hospitals, clinics or group medicsl practices. It does not hire hospital administrators, doctors, nurses, nurse's aides, etc. IF the government did all that, as it does in the UK, that would indeed be socialized medicine. However, nothing like that is being proposed for the US.
