Complaint alleged Palin charged state when her children traveled with her

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Gov. Sarah Palin has paid more than $8,100 to reimburse Alaska for the costs associated with nine trips taken with her children.

Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, says the governor paid $8,143.62 to the state on June 19 for the nine trips, some with more than one of her five children, taken between January 2007 and February of this year. The payment was due Tuesday.

An ethics complaint had alleged Palin abused her power by charging the state when her children traveled with her. The Alaska Personnel Board found no wrongdoing, but Palin agreed to reimburse the state for trips found to be of questionable state interest.

Van Flein and state administrative director Linda Perez sent The Associated Press copies of the check and other documents of the transaction.

2. Filching it from her defense fund
her "fans" are paying for it, but that in itself is an abuse.

3. Her defense fund pulled in $100K this past Sunday with a "Webathon"
I posted a link on Monday and as you can tell I am too damned lazy to look up my own thread and re-post it here.

But she did. There is a Web Site set up specifically for the purpose of plucking the $600K she reportedly needs from her devoted followers.

6. They tend to cling to "images" rather than reality and actual substance...
...in the same way that they were all fired up over Fred Thompson in the primaries because they found him "Reaganesque."

Ronnie was a grade-B (maybe grade-C or grade-D, depending on your perspective) actor and a middling politician. He's been given a lot of credit for good times that never really happened. That "Tear Down The Wall" thing might have been his "Stairway To Heaven" but he had a hell of a time filling up the remainder of his greatest hits CD, if you catch my drift.

The major difference I see between he freeps and the majority of posters on DU is this:

While there is a "percentage" of DUers who are behind the surface-level image of President Obama, I feel that the overwhelming majority of people here hold him accountable, stick to what they believe in, and question things that don't mesh with their overall beliefs.

It's like "YES, I like this man. YES, I respect him. YES, I voted for him. That said, Mr. President, time to roll up your sleeves and go to work."

All Bush had to do was show up. Do a photo op at the ranch, talk about how alla them A-rabs wanna kill us and won't rest until they do, and how that's not a-gonna happen on HIS watch.

We (so far) have been holding our President to a higher standard, and I feel he's set a pretty high standard for himself. He's not perfect. He's going to say and do things people won't like.

But I think that the majority of people here...lurking freeps not included...can see the world of difference between Barack Obama and George W. Bush, but more specifically, the way we support "our" guy versus the way they supported "theirs."

7. Time to investigate whether she is paying taxes on that free money she's gathering from her fans to
pay off bills that should have come from her own pocket.
