Mickelson’s wife diagnosed with breast cancer
Source: Associated Press

Phil Mickelson’s wife, Amy, has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and the three-time major champion says he will suspend his PGA Tour schedule indefinitely.

Mickelson’s management company says Amy Mickelson will begin treatment with major surgery as early as the next two weeks.

They were married in 1996 and have three children.

Mickelson was to play the Byron Nelson Championship this week, and defend his title next week at Colonial.

3. This is it.
Early detection, aggressive appropriate treatment-this is the best our system has to offer at this time.

13. Nixon had one. Every president has one.
Cancer is very difficult to treat. Evolution and all that. Cells want to live forever and it is quite a trick that they choose to die most of the time.

Complexity - can resolve that just by wearing a ribbon or throwing money at something or declaring a "war" on something. It is stupid to even thnk that.

16. Thank God our government doesn't declare war on cancer..
Think about how the war on drugs has gone, or, in Lyndon Johnson's days, the war on poverty. Or the war on terrorism. When is the last time our government has won a war on anything except Bush's war on our civil our rights.

We are better off letting the reseachers work on this one, there is enough profiteering off people's misery already.

5. Everyone deserves better than this...
Cancer fucking sucks -- no matter who gets it.

I am a Mickelson fan, and I agree with you. Phil and his wife are nice people -- but cancer does not discriminate. I lost my father and uncle to cancer last year...two of the most wonderful people in the world.

Cancer can kiss my ass.

7. Very tragic for the Mickelson family...BTW did anyone watch the Farrah documentary?
I missed it and didn't set the show to record.

Just wondering as to its impact.

I recall that EVERY girl wanted to have Farrah's hair, and every guy wanted to have Farrah.lol

11. i saw it...it was pretty heartbreaking
farrah has a really great attitude and this documentary was a very brave thing to do, but it was really tough to watch. if you've lost someone to cancer, it will bring up some memories. hang in there, farrah :loveya:

9. I'm sorry this is happening to her, but
BC is no longer a death sentence!!! I hope that Phil Mickelson will use his notoriety when she is finished with her treatment to not only raise money and awareness for more research, but go to DC and tell Congress to FUND the RESEARCH.

I'm sorry, I put my 17 year old cat down today, and I am not dealing with it well at all.
