Republican James Tedisco leads Democrat Scott Murphy in the race for the 20th Congressional District seat Kirsten Gillibrand left for the U.S. Senate, according to a poll released Thursday.

The Siena College poll reports Tedisco, the state Assembly's Republican leader, has a 46% to 34% lead over Scott Murphy, a venture capital manager.

Mr. Tedisco's lead is 12 points in a district with a 15-point Republican enrollment edge and he has only single-digit leads on issues critical to voters.

This is going to be a tough race, but we might just pull it off.

1. Look at Murphy's job
Venture Capital Manager. This won't be easy.

2. their numbers
on who people think would handle the economy are much closer....I wish that the Democratic candidate was better known around here. Tedisco's a family friend, but he's always given me the creeps. Plus, his commercials with "his little brother with downs syndrome died" piss me off.

3. What's the news on the district being...
"disappeared"? Been hearing some noise about Albany dumping it in the next redistricting go-round.

Meanwhile, Tedisco's been a fixture up there for a long time and Gillibrand had some fortuitous scandal to thank for her win, so I'm not sure anyone thinks this seat has a good chance of remaining ours.

(But, there's still a chance.)
