Former Pres. (George H.W.) Bush Writes Coleman to Offer Support
Source: The Hill

Former President George H.W. Bush got involved in Minnesota's still-contested Senate race, writing Sen. Norm Coleman (R) on Thursday to lend his support in his election challenge to Democrat Al Franken.

"I have been following the developments in Minnesota for some time and we are no strangers to recounts," Bush wrote in a personal letter to Coleman. "Barbara and I appreciate your hard work and wish you the best of luck."

"I know your many friends in the Senate look forward to seeing you return to continue your bipartisan efforts on behalf of Minnesota families," the former president added, on stationary from his Houston office.

"The fact that President George H.W. Bush is following this contest and took the time to personally offer his support for Senator Coleman underscores how important this race is to folks across the country," said Coleman campaign spokesman Luke Friedrich. "Senator Coleman is committed to making sure every vote is counted and all voters are treated equally, and is humbled by the widespread support he's received from so many friends during this critical process."

2. Why are they fighting so hard to save Coleman seat?
Was he their rising star and they plan on running him in 2012?

14. Won't happen Norm , should he return, faces ethics charges
over his money laundering from donors for use as home improvement projects. He's a little tame compared to Ted Stevens, but he has his ethics problems.. Tell Pappa George, we're paying attention too. Likely can't match his contributions for his causes, but we'll do our best in helping out Al..

17. The BFEE had to accomplish a lot to
get him 'elected' in the first place. Getting rid of Wellstone was quite a cash outlay.

3. Maybe that's how Norm will pay for all this
When he loses the contest, he'll have to pay the costs for Franken and the State of Minnesota, which must have run up quite high already.

10. Ah, that Bush touch.
"Now that we know you're really one of us, i.e., that you'll cook evidence and otherwise cheat, lie and steal your way into office, you have our full support."

Poppy can sure pick the patches of deepest doodoo, and step right into them.
