APBEIJING (AP) — China's Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday that Beijing hopes a U.N. resolution passed in recent days calling for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza will be observed by parties in the conflict.
In a phone conversation with Ban, Yang said the resolution reflected the strong desire of the international community for an immediate cease-fire, according to a foreign ministry statement.
Israel has said the resolution passed by the U.N. Security Council on Thursday is unworkable and Hamas, the Islamic group whose government controls Gaza but is not recognized internationally, complains that it was not consulted.
Yang said the immediate cease-fire should be realized and Israeli troops should withdraw from the Gaza Strip, the statement said. He said the humanitarian crisis in Gaza should be eased as soon as possible.
The Foreign Ministry announced Saturday that China's Middle East envoy will soon travel to Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian territories to push for an end to the fighting in Gaza.

This is an important story. The Obama stimulis money is coming from China. China loans us money, we give money to Israel. China has the power to stop the Gaza attack just by closing the checkbook. I'd love to be a fly on the wall right now.! lol
