Biden Says Palin's Gender Doesn't Change His Debate Game
Source: CBS News

(KALISPELL, MT.) - Joe Biden says he’s not expecting anything different from what he’s used to in taking on Sarah Palin in the upcoming vice presidential debate.

“I’ve got to say, I find it fascinating. It seems like the only people in the room that think that debating a woman is going to be fundamentally different are people who don’t hang around with smart women,” Biden said aboard his campaign plane as he traveled to Montana today.

“I mean, you know, the idea that I’ve not debated tough, smart women. Come to the Senate, man. Take on Barbara Mikulski. You know, uh, take on Olympia Snowe. You know, take on Dianne Feinstein. Take on Barbara Boxer. Take on you know, the list goes on.

9. true enough.
Indeed, it does change the debate as he could look like he is beating-up on the Barbie Doll. She is no Hillary.

4. I hope he doesn't handle her with kid gloves
He had best not say John McCain is an honorable man either. They need to stop with that now.

I'm tired of this nicey nice thing. While McPalin is out there ripping Obama and Biden to shreds the Dems are busy saying how they honor McCain's service and how he's an honorable man.

MCCAIN IS NOT AN HONORABLE MAN. He proves that by his actions on a daily basis.

20. "Praising" McCain before criticizing him is a losing tactic.
People hear the "honor McCain for his service" part and then tune out the rest of the statement. It is a losing tactic.

The way to deal with McCain-Palin is to point out that they will only continue more of the same failed policies of the Bush-Cheney administration which wrecked the economy, lost jobs, increased our dependence on foreign oil, lost our standing in the international community, created huge deficits, and gotten us into a war in Iraq that McCain wants to continue for "a hundred" years.

Obama will help businesses that create jobs in America, invest in new technologies, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, promote affordable health care, revitalize our standing in the international community, and bring an honorable end to the Iraq war.

It is time for Obama-Biden to deal aggressively with the Republicans. It is time to demonstrate determination to correct the problems in Washington. Playing "nice" will not accomplish that goal. Attack McCain-Palin by connecting them to Bush-Cheney. Constantly recall the failures of the Bush administration and McCain's embracing of them in this election.

He hasn't survived DC as long as he has for nothing. Barack didn't pick him for a brooch. Contrast McKook's pick. KnowwudImean?

Obama/Biden for America.

Ailin' and Failin' for more neoKKKon kookery.

It's that simple.

6. One thing to bet on
Cheating is a prime component of GOP "debate" strategy especially with someone unskilled or ignorant. They will know the questions and likely very confidential practices done by Biden. Also they will play up what they can to score big points to make up for any lack of depth. Biden as a young Senator forced to raise his children, one in severe condition, along. Look for that early to put Biden emotionally off guard.

This is not about debating issues or facing off with a hostile committee witness or a Senate debate. It is knowing what the other side will do and the game they intend to play while you are primed to do your fixed job for fixed points with a fixed and likely known straight up debate.

I would not be averse to putting some ringers into debate planning knowing they will be getting their hands on it, the old canary trap strategy. Remember Jimmy Carter and even the expression on his face as he began to wonder how Reagan seemed to know all the Dem playbook info and the questions. At least remmeber to expect this necessary move on the part of the GOP. Cheat, distract.

7. Great Answer!!!
As a female lawyer, I get a little tired of this BS. I dealt with men 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and never got any special deference, AND NEVER EXPECTED ANY. If she "took on the old boy network", then debating should be a cinch, and there shouldn't be any problem, and the debate should just be normal.

I think the Republicans are just waiting to yell the SEXIST charge, though.

11. Oh yeah. You nailed it.
You can bet that the moment she hoists herself on her own petard, in the debates, and Joe follows up, they will be screaming "sexism!" so much that you will think that at any moment , McCain will burn his man bra.

a disgusting thing to say. I didn't have to look up what gender you are. But I do have to wonder what kind of person you are, to use such a violent image.

14. Did Hillary get any special considerations? I don't think so...
and he better not give her any. Although I think she may already have the questions...if she even attends is still up in the air.

I too am tired of the friendly train we are taking. McCain is not any dems friend right now! We are in the fight of our lives. After the things they said at their convention, he's not a friend to Biden or anyone else.

17. I heard something up here that just made my blood boil
A CBC reporter was asking a republican about the Biden vs Palin debate. She said that John McCain's choice had all but obliterated Biden's chance of being effective in the debate. The reporter said why - and the republican stated VERY SMUGLY was because Biden would be debating a woman and so he would be forced to wear kid gloves on her.

I almost screamed at the radio. WHAT A CROCK OF SH**. That is what they think boys and girls. Joe is going to have to be careful - or else he might hurt her feelings and come across as being a meanie. Well guess what - politics is mean. And if you don't like the heat, stay away from the fire, so to speak.

Sarah Palin has ALLOT to answer to. Her vindictive, divisive speech is proof she can dish it out - but a person's measure comes whether you can take it as well as dish it. And guess what - we are all adults here, and looks does not count for everything. SUBSTANCE counts too...especially when that someone is running for VP.

Here is what I would like to see Joe do. Force Sarah to talk about issues. Force Sarah to talk substance, not fluff. And if that is being mean, then so be it.

22. What Biden can do is throw Bush's failed policies at her and put her in a position of defending them
Biden can use leverage against her. He need not attack her lack of knowledge or lack of experience. Merely put her in a position of having to defend the Bush administration's failed policies (or of criticizing them), and point out that she is after all a Republican, the party that enabled the Bush administration.

Obama should do the same with McCain. Moreover, Obama should stop prefacing every comment about McCain with the crap about "how he served his country" or he is "a war hero". Repeating their talking points, as Lakoff would point out, is a losing tactic. Whatever you say afterward is lost in outer space.

Whatever McCain did years ago, today he is a menace to America and the planet. Keep that thought in focus.

Go for the jugular vein. I want to see him rip her to shreds. And, so what if they cry sexism. Anyone that is actually paying attention will know that she is a Bushette.

21. Me too.
I want Biden to rip her to shreds in the debate.

If people from the MSM or McCain camp cry foul, then just retaliate by simply stating:

"If Palin can't withstand the attacks from Biden in a moderated debate, how the hell is she going to stand up to foreign leaders that are hostile to the U.S.?"
