Russia thanks Jordan for relief aid to separatists in Georgia
Source: AFP

MOSCOW (AFP) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev thanked Jordan's King Abdullah II on Sunday for offering humanitarian aid to South Ossetia, a separatist region of Georgia where fighting broke out this month.

Medvedev held talks with the king at the Black Sea resort of Sochi -- their third meeting over the past six months -- to discuss a wide range of issues from the situation in the Middle East to economic cooperation.

"I want to separately thank you for your offer of humanitarian aid to South Ossetia following what happened in the region," Medvedev said at the beginning of the meeting, broadcast on Russian television.

Russia was strong condemned by the West for sending troops into Georgia in response to Tbilisi's offensive on August 7 against separatists in South Ossetia.

Zero-sum politics is sooooo twentieth century. But yeah, various parties have stopped following orders, and in some cases even stopped acknowledging us when we pass by on the street.
