Hey ...they eat dog and cat over there. Remember us fighting the communists years ago? What the fuck happened? Remember when the Chinese were helping the North Vietcong? How many stores have been put out of business because of the cheap Chinese slave labor shit they sell at Walmart and Toy R Us? Fuck China and the Olympics !

4. And with all my cable stations, none are carrying live. Networks want to sell
ad time on prime time so I guess it is wait to watch. I noticed that their will be no swimming live either. The first few days of prime time coverage will be taped coverage of swimming, beach volleyball, and diving. Anyway, I'm happy for so much coverage not on prime time, it will keep me interested and the T & A prime time show can go on without me tuning in.

12. I guess
im in the minority I enjoy the Olympics. If for no other reason then to see an athletes from all over the world get an opportunity to be in the world spotlight. As a former athlete the Olympics are the greatest achievement (unless you play a sport that can net you a multi-million contract). But I hate the commentating I wish I could watch the Olympics through some other TV venue then NBC with Matt Lier and that sanctimonious shit Bob Costas.

I thought the fireworks were a pretty amazing spectacle.

13. Well, they did invent fireworks....
The very opening, as Bob Costas commented on, seemed "intimidating". I agree with him as I saw it on a big screen HDTV myself.
Yes, those 2008 drummers were over the top .

btw
Did ya notice or catch the parade of nations and see which country got the biggest applause ;)

15. I think NBC did a great job this time
I apologize for attacking them this morning.

It's an amazing display of color, light, rhythm, and actions. No recent Olympics opening ceremony were comparable so far artistically and technologically. I enjoyed it greatly.

No you are not in the minority. People being negative in this thread are minority. I feel sorry for their smallmindedness.

17. Don't get me wrong
I love the Olympics and each quadrennial I make sure to catch the parade of nations. Enjoy seeing the the people and cultural attire. It's just sometimes I'm embarrassed by the actions of my fellow Americans. This time around I didn't see any mugging for the cameras or people yakking on their cell phones. Well behaved.

18. Relative of U.S. coach killed in Beijing attack ( somebody did something stupid)
BEIJING - A knife-wielding Chinese man attacked two relatives of a coach for the U.S. Olympic men’s volleyball team at a tourist site in Beijing, killing one and injuring the other on the first day of the Olympics on Saturday, team officials and state media said.
