CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A retired Green Beret general plans to campaign in North Carolina for Democratic president candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

Obama’s campaign announced that retired Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Lambert would campaign Tuesday in Charlotte and Fayetteville for the Illinois senator.

2. Not surprising
If you remember back to the 1992 election, a number of retired Flag officers, among them Adm. William Crow, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, supported Bill Clinton instead of Bush, and some of them had served under Bush. Just proves that being in the military doesn't mean you're automatically a Republican.
