Iran MPs resign over poll crisis
Around 100 Iranian reformist MPs have resigned in protest at the barring of thousands of candidates in upcoming elections, according to reports.
It comes amid a worsening political crisis following the hardline Guardian Council's decision to disqualify them.
The reformist government had demanded a full reinstatement of more than 3,500 candidates banned from February's vote.
Iran's president Mohammad Khatami has had to cancel key meetings on the issue after falling ill with back pain.
Prominent reformist MP Mohsen Mirdamadi read out a resignation speech on behalf of his fellow lawmakers to parliament live on state radio.
