White House Now Runs on Linux
NewsFactor Network

--- The list of large enterprise sites that have migrated to Linux in the last two months includes Royal Sun Alliance, Deutsche Bank, SunGard, and Schwab. Linux saw a net gain of 100 sites among the 24,000 Web sites run by 1,500 large companies in this period, according to Netcraft.

Netcraft data even shows that the White House site is powered by Apache on Linux, though this appears to have been set up prior to the SCO suit. ---

3. Hey, even the MICROSOFT site ran on Apache
...at least until recently. Used to be you got an Apache 404 error over there if you hit a bad link. Thought that was funny--they knew better than to rely on their own webserver.

5. Didn't the Microsoft Site
switch to NT Server, then had to switch back because NT couldn't handle the load? Seems like I read that somewhere.

6. supposedly it was running Solaris for the OS
and apache for the web server, but M$ vehemently denied this. Dunno if snopes has it listed, but if you attend training at Sun Microsystems, or buy any of their stuff, you'll hear the story.
