Bush Says There's No Doubt Iraq Threatened U.S.
President Bush said Tuesday that Iraq undoubtedly posed a threat to America last year and the U.S.-led invasion was justified, despite his outgoing arms inspector's conclusion that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction.

But Bush and his aides backed away from often-stated predictions that such weapons will eventually be found in Iraq. And the president deflected questions about the discrepancies between his dire warnings on Iraq and former chief inspector David Kay's findings.

''There is no doubt in my mind that Saddam Hussein was a grave and gathering threat to America and the world,'' Bush said. ''And I say that based upon intelligence that I saw prior to the decision to go into Iraq and I say that based upon what I know today. And the world is better off without him.''

"And I say that based upon intelligence that I saw prior to the decision to go into Iraq ..."

But David Kay is saying that intelligence is bad.

5. Sorry but the premise for war was not Saddam is bad.
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 09:40 PM by lovedems
The premise for war was WMD's. You KNEW he had them, you KNEW where they were , you KNEW how much he had.

I am really getting pissed that some Americans are allowing this premise change be acceptable.

Most American's seem to have no understanding of international law (let alone the 1648 treaty of Westphalia that invented it). Just fire up the patriotic music, show explosions (making sure to not show the brutal consequences of the bombs), and it's all justified no matter what, because we are the U.S.A. Of course we have the right to unilaterally defend ourselves against real imminent threats, but Iraq was so obviously not a threat to ANYONE. And the exploitation of 9/11 mixed in with all the otrher lies is just so awful and disgusting.

Impeach this sick, pathetic, lying joke of the leader of the free world. Not like he was elected anyway.

7. Yep, no doubt in his tiny mind
I agree he's desperate. Lately all he's doing is backpedaling. They told him all he had to do is keep lying and everyone would believe him. Now look what happened. Real life. Must be tough for the cowboy brat.

you don`t blame the enabler just the enabled? That is about as shallow as your lie filled State of the Onion address. The world will be better of without Bu$h`s warmongering ass ruining our reputation in it. Did more people die or become maimed in Iraq today? Bu$h could care less as long as Halliburton,Bechtel, and the Carlyle Group are being made wealthy by the poorest of taxpayers.

14. It's finally starting to crumble around them.
It's just going to get worse and worse for Duh-bya from here until November.

The economy is going to get worse. The Fed is raising interest rates and there is no job growth.

Iraq is going to get much worse. We'll continue to lose 1-2 troops daily, the mandatory handover of authority in July won't change anything, our troops will still be there and they'll still be getting killed, right up through the election. Civil war may break out, as well.

The numerous scandals of this Administration -- each one makes Watergate really look like a third-rate burglary -- are finally coming to a head. The Plame Affair is before a grand jury. Kay just put the final nail in the WMD coffin, as the press finally starts to wake up to that disaster. Bush is stonewalling the 9/11 committee, so you KNOW there's something really embarassing there. And the Senate Judicial Committee espionage scandal is moving along as well.

Where is the upside for Duh? I don't see it.

The only possible -- POSSIBLE -- piece of good news between now and then would be the capture of bin Laden. Not too likely.

15. Got news, Duya, YOU are the grave and gathering threat!!!
You and your cabal have diseased this country's economic, social, democratic and international health. Maybe, you were hallucinating or delusional when you thought God had graced you with the power of a presidency (actually, I know you were). Have you examined your body, lately,...you may have missed 666 formed by freckles on your buttocks.

Geez, I'm sorry. My outrage is bringing out the meanie in me :(

19. He's Helping Dig His Own Grave By Continuing Along These Lines
If he was smart, he'd just keep his mouth shut and talk about funding the NEA or even just babble his other barely coherent nonsense...But he's too arrogant and stubborn and too dependent on the big lie so even when it's obvious to everyone it's a lie, he sticks to it. It's either going to do him in OR he knows the fix is in and just doesn't care.

20. Another bad RW-steered headline
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 01:04 AM by wtmusic
Bush never said Iraq threatened the US. He said Iraq posed a threat (Shrub felt threatened).

It's a major RW talking point (that Saddam has threatened the US) and one I have to correct people on time and time again.

Call AP on this bullshit--
