Lieberman launches grassroots organization {Citizens for -- McCAIN ??}

From CNN Associate Political Editor Rebecca Sinderbrand

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Sen. Joe Lieberman – who has taken on increasingly high-profile campaign roles on behalf of presumptive Republican nominee John McCain – announced Thursday that was launching and heading a new grassroots organization, "Citizens for McCain," with a direct appeal to Hillary Clinton’s disappointed supporters.

“The phones at the campaign headquarters have been ringing with disaffected Democrats calling to say they believe Senator McCain has the experience, judgment, and bipartisanship necessary to lead our country in these difficult times,” Lieberman wrote in a message sent to the Arizona senator’s supporters. “Many of these supporters are former supporters of Senator Clinton.”

Over the past few weeks, some supporters of Hillary Clinton – whose campaign announced Wednesday that she would be suspending her presidential run this weekend — have said that they would consider voting for McCain if she were not the Democratic nominee.

Lieberman highlighted McCain’s “very good working relationship with Senator Clinton” – which he said would continue in the future – and his comments praising her in a speech at a Louisiana campaign event Wednesday.

2. I can't say publicly what I'm thinking now. I'd be picked up by homeland
security for terrorist threats! I guess the only thing I CAN say is, in January Joe should lose his Chairmanship of any committees in the Senate, and be told in no uncertain terms to get the hell out of the Party!

I like Obama's style.

We may never know what he said to Trader Joey yesterday but he gave us a big hint that he told TJ to stick it!

8. If this is not bullshit, then I do not know what is...
"...ringing with disaffected Democrats calling to say they believe Senator McCain has the experience,..blah blah blah."

As with HRC message boards being plagued with McClone bots, I highly doubt that there is any legitimacy with this. Sure, there is a "Citizens for McCain" club, but any Dem that would be so distraught that HRC did not get the nom and would vote for a repig is FUCKING INSANE and should have there Dem license revoked ASAP!

Lieberman, you are a fucking liar.

16. The most polite thing I can say is, "Schmuck."
Schmuck (pejorative)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For the surname, see Schmuck (surname) (ed.: :wow:).
Look up schmuck in
Wiktionary, the free dictionary.

Schmuck is most often used in English as a pejorative or insult, meaning a stupid or detestable person.

Schmuck entered English as a borrowed word from Yiddish, where it is an obscene term literally meaning a foreskin or head of a penis, and an insult...

22. I live in CT and was very happy that CT went for Obama on Super Tuesday.
I can't tell you how many times he receives e-mails from me about his position on Iraq, FISA etc. and his responses are always the same..basically everyone is a terrorist with the exception of Israel.

It is a shame but he is a lost soul with a one issue mission.

21. He also seems to have hijacked the meaning of "grassroots organization"
From Wikipedia:

"The term implies that the creation of the movement and the group supporting it is natural and spontaneous, highlighting the differences between this and a movement that is orchestrated by traditional power structures."

By definition, a sitting senator can't just create a grassroots organization. Except maybe in LieberWorld, where war is peace, etc.

24. Well, I guess that's the least of his sins.
I think these are now known as "Astroturf organizations" -- the corps and wingnuts have created so many of them, someone had to come up with a more appropriately descriptive name.

25. Interesting...
I can't stand Joe Lieberman but the idea that his campaign organizers think Clinton supporters believe McCain is closer to HRC than Obama is very interesting - perhaps HRC should be trying to get on that ticket....Joe Lieberman may be scum but Hilliary set the stage for all this to happen.
