17. cat food commercials, now they get me wispy.
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 08:29 PM by undergroundpanther
And sometimes after I get that way I grab the nearest in proximity of my location one of my three kitties and I kiss'em and hug 'em. Next thing ya know they all want some lovin'too. It turns into myself wishing I had more arms like Shiva or something..But I never remember the cat food brand after that ,maybe because I focus on the cats that much so the ad part I could care less about falls on deaf ears.
Get better byrd. Or I'll send my cats over there and they'll purr and be so sweet and I won't be able to do anything to stop them.

24. And how about the ad for adopting animals?
I literally have to turn the mute on because the song she's singing is so sad. And the expressions on the dogs and kitties, oh my god!

We can't have animals now because of allergies. If I listened to that ad another time I'd run right over to the pound.

25. You can get allergy shots for dogs and cats. I am allergic to both, very much so,
and when I went the first time to the allergist he told me to get rid of my furbabies. Outrageous. I am getting 3 shots a week and I've since adopted a few more from the pound. I have three dogs and eight cats as of now, but there's always room for one more.

Seriously, allergies don't have to end your dreams of rescuing a pound baby.

42. hello there ...
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 12:26 AM by CountAllVotes
I too have been told since I was a youngster that I am allergic to cats. The problem is that I LOVE cats. My life revolves around my cats as I don't have any children (THANK GOD FOR THAT!).

I was recently told to get rid of my cats and I hedged. My husband said, "Well we can get rid of the cats and see if you feel better, but I suspect you will feel much worse." He was so right. I couldn't live with myself if I had to get rid of my precious cats!

I now have three cats and I deal with the allergies. I take Allegra-D if they are really acting up and I take Allegra 60 2X a day to control them. If I miss a pill, I sure notice it quick. One of my cats is basically adhered to my side at all times (devotion - this is what you get from a rescued cat I've found). :D

I also have these sponges made to pick-up pet hair and they are called "GONZO" sponges (do not buy the faux ones as they aren't nearly as good). I buy them on eBay. They help to control the problem along with vacuuming at least once a week.

I'd recommend having cats with short fur rather than long fur if possible. Luckily, all three of my cats do have short hair. The less fur the better.

Best of luck to you and your cats and yes, I know exactly where you are coming from.

As for Senator Byrd ...

He is one fine man and a hell of a Senator. I hope he recovers as I hope Sen. Kennedy does too. It really is all too much! :(

:dem:

46. It gets me
two ways makes me really sad and very very pissed off at animal abusers.I cope the same way, I hold my kitties tight. And tell them I love 'em,and I hit mute because what that commecial says I know it is true that's why it hurts, and I wish I could do more but I can't. However I do when I encounter it I do fight people who hurt animals.I have caught asshole psychopathic teens a couple of times hurting animals and believe me they felt pain and shame and fear by time I was done.

And I was glad I got there in time the animals were not dead.

One animal I helped was a box turtle. His shell was cracked the assholes were hitting him with big rocks. After I let the little ass hats have it,I took the turtle home, picked the shards of shell out of his back muscles with tweezers ,cleaned the wound up and put bandages on it and a temporary 'shell' over the bandages made of a piece of curved hard plastic I melted and bent to fit him and I taped it all up with duct tape,to keep it dry and clean. I made him a terrarium kinda thing to stay in with a small kiddie pool,I put in my balcony. I put soil, plants, rocks,a little water dish, and it was really nice .I fed him mushrooms, fruit, leafy greens, meal worms..The turtle healed in around a month and a half. I released him into the woods and he kept coming back .I would find him sitting on the porch..So I moved him out farther in the woods and stayed with him awhile, reducing it each time and distracting him with a treat. Soon he didn't come back again.Sometimes I'd see him in the woods when I was out there farting around for I had painted a blue star on his back to identify him.

15. Heartfilled prayer and loving thoughts for Sen. Byrd tonight.
Amazing orator, constitutional scholar, faithfil democrat, and loving husband... Senator Byrd won my heart and everlasting admiration the day he stood in the well of the Senate and decried Bush's rush to this illegal, immoral, and unjustified war.

I care not what he did as a young man who grew up in the racist world of the old south of West Virginia. By and through his countless service to this country in all the years since, he has more than redeemed himself, and earned a place in the honor roll of American jurisprudence.

He remains in my heart and prayers tonight, tomorrow, and forever more. Lord watch over and keep your faithful servant in good care, Amen.

 and I :loveya: Robert Byrd

16. Byrd hospitalized after suffering a high fever (tiny bit more info)
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/byrd-hospitalized-after-suffering-a-high-fever-2008-06-02.html

Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W. Va.) was admitted to the hospital for the third time this year on Monday night, this time for overnight observation after suffering a high fever.
Byrd, 90, the longest-serving senator in U.S. history, was taken to a Virginia hospital in the early evening and will stay there overnight after feeling ill throughout the day, spokesman Jesse Jacobs said. Jacobs said Byrd had felt “lethargic and sluggish” throughout the day, but attended the lone Senate vote of the day, at 5:30 p.m. He was one of 14 senators to vote against debating a climate change bill.

Shortly thereafter, Byrd went home and reported the same symptoms to his caregiver. The caregiver discovered that Byrd had a fever and consulted the senator’s physician, who recommended a hospital visit, Jacobs said.

18. Spokesman says Sen. Robert C. Byrd hospitalized
Source: cnn.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Robert C. Byrd's spokesman says the 90-year-old lawmaker was hospitalized Monday night at his doctor's urging after suffering from lethargy and sluggishness at his home.

Press secretary Jesse L. Jacobs says the West Virginia Democrat will be there overnight for observation.

Byrd, who is the longest-serving senator in history, voted during a 5:30 p.m. roll call Monday, then went home. Jacobs says that less than an hour later the senator began to feel ill.

He was found to have a fever, and at his doctor's request he was taken to a nearby hospital.

27. more than us needing him
Byrd is a good person, I honestly believe. His suffering over his friend Ted's illness is so like him... caring, open and real. He has spent his life making up for the mistakes of his youth, he's spent his whole life fighting for what he thought was right. I respect nothing more than that. Your past doesn't need to be perfect for you to do the right thing. Many people with an imperfect youth (sorry I still don't buy Bush's 40 year old youthful indiscretions) go on to make great change. God bless them if they work for their constituents, even those they have nothing in common with other than a zip code, or a state code, or a country code, or a planet code. I think both Senator Kennedy and Senator Byrd fall into that category.

I watched him reading his statement after Sen. Kennedy's seizure and I was very moved by it, more by his obvious
emotion in the situation than anything he said.

Hang in there Sen. Byrd! We've still got things to do and changes to accomplish! :D
