Roseanne Barr calls for DNC "trouble"
Source: Denver Post

Just days after conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh came under fire for "dreaming of riots in Denver," another national talk show host issued a call for "trouble" at the Democratic National Convention — this time from the liberal side.

Roseanne Barr, guest host for "American Afternoon" on Air America Radio, told her listeners on Monday to "hop on buses for Denver" and "cause a bunch of trouble."

"We should, a bunch of us, go there and repeat the Democratic Convention from Chicago," Barr said, referring to the 1968 convention that resulted in rioting.

1. I never liked her at all on her show,
now I hate this. Is she a wrong winger as well? I am not up on these tv folks.

6. Of course, it's just my opinion, I could be wrong...
...but Roseanne has been yanked this way and that by her celebrity status, "repressed memory" quacks, and her own public gaffes in such a way that her ties with her family have been permanently strained and that she's been reduced to fodder for jokes about multiple personality.

I hope she's doing better now. But that doesn't mean I want riots at Denver. If the reich-wing starts something at the DNC, we need to finish it, but I don't want to see people getting hurt.

24. I tried watching her show a couple of times...
Found it tedious and unfunny and turned it off after 5 minutes or so. Then I got rid of cable.

Who's her candidate, anyway?

11. I listened to her for a while this week...
she's supporting Hillary,
her daughter is supporting Obama.
their big on air discussion was if a feminist could support Obama and still consider herself a feminist (because she wasn't supporting the candidate with ovaries)....I had to turn it off.

13. Ed Schultz is not on Air America
His show might be broadcast by some stations that also broadcast AAR programming, but Ed and AAR are not even chummy. AAR syndicates shows. They do not own stations.
I'm not intending to be snarky here, but to tell you the truth I read many people here with desires to boycott or to support AAR, and frankly to do either people need to figure out who and what AAR is, and who and what they are not.

Rosseanne is an old school lefty. Worked in a feminist collective and all of that. She says what she wants to say. And AAR is lucky to have her, because like every other host whose name you know from outside AAR, they can not afford her. They can not afford Belzer either. I can tell you right now that Belzer gets more for one episode of his LAO show than any AAR host gets in a month. And then they pay residuals. Radio is not a gravy train for those from other media.

20. Really? Well I guess she tends to the romantic instead of the pragmatic. A unity ticket is
a recipe for failure.

I would reluctantly vote for Hill if through some miracle she got the nomination.

And I would gladly volunteer (I am already) and gladly vote for Obama, who is all but certain to win the nomination. But I wouldn't vote for a unity ticket no matter who was at the top.

Why?

Because I won't vote for a ticket that insults my intelligence.

Obama is running on change and a new direction in politics and government. Putting Hill in the VP slot would be the antithesis of that.

Hill has said repeatedly that Obama isn't qualified to be president. If she put Obama on the ticket, that would be the antithesis of that.

I'm not giving my vote to anybody who would so flat out and blatantly insult my intelligence.

17. Chicago, 1968
I'm a Roseann fan, but does she have any idea of what those riots were like in1968? They were horrid, vicious, wasteful demonstrations, and they did the Democrats a whole lot more harm than good.

What an absurd idea to put forth. She's Rush's "monkey see, monkey do."

25. Well, I guess AAR must be SO happy to have turfed Randi
so they could have someone advocate for riots in Denver. I guess it all depends on whom the host supports, in this primary, as to whether what they say is "unacceptable and outrageous".

33. I believe there is every bit as much call to attend this Convention
as the one in '68 and I think Democrats should be protested for their obvious lack of concern for America and the American people. There would not have been any "riots" in '68 except for the police. It would only have been protest marches and speeches to let the Democrats know that the people are not happy with their leadership. The same holds true today and maybe even more so..The time has come for some shock and awe I am afraid..If there is not some massive unrest everything will just continue on as it has..

41. She is beyond awful on AAR
She and her S.O. Johnny Argent (whoever he is, but just thinking of them being a couple was turning my stomach) are on AAR in Randi's old spot for just this week. Maybe it's a tryout, but it is Thursday and it is hard to believe they are still on or that they have any listeners. I listened on Monday and it was unbelievably awful. She has no idea how to run a radio call-in show and 'whoever-Johnny-is' was trying to keep her on track. She is near brain-dead and incredibly vulgar and disgusting. It appears AAR has now reached absolute rock bottom.

What was the reason she gave for wanting to "cause a bunch of trouble"? Article doesn't mention it. And I'm confused, since upthread it is said that she is calling for a unity ticket. What good would causing trouble do for a unity ticket?
