CNN to air moveon ad to counter SOTU

The online advocacy group's latest bit of insurgency airs this week as a counter to Bush's State of the Union address Tuesday. Depicting children checking groceries, mopping floors and performing other menial tasks, MoveOn's television ad asks, "Guess who's going to pay off President Bush's $1 trillion deficit?"

The ad, which airs on CNN starting today, speaks to MoveOn's deft use of new and old media to give voice to the concerns of its 1.75 million members.

As it is, the winning ad will air 30 times this week on CNN, at a cost of $300,000. Dubbed "Child's Pay," the ad is intended to bookend President Bush's annual speech to the nation Tuesday.

5. I love MoveOn because they provide actual means of doing something to

get rid of Bush. Bitching and moaning about Bush is one thing and it is cathartic, but actually doing something basically through the strength of numbers gives hope and a feeling of empowerment.
