U.S.: Iranian bombs rise in Iraq
Source: CNN

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait (CNN) -- Attacks against U.S. troops in Iraq with bombs believed linked to Iran -- known as explosively formed penetrators (EFPs) -- have risen sharply in January after several months of decline, according to the top U.S. commander in Iraq.

Iraqi and U.S. officials indicated just a month ago that Iran was using its influence to improve security in Iraq by restraining cross-border weapons flow and militia activity. The U.S. military had said in recent months that the number of EFP attacks had gone down.

Gen. David Petraeus disclosed the reversal to reporters after a meeting with President Bush who was visiting troops in Kuwait.

"In this year, EFPs have gone up, actually, over the last 10 days by a factor of two or three, and frankly we're trying to determine why that might be," Petraeus said.

3. Try this on for size...
Read the first sentence of the story again but replace U.S. with Germany, Iraq with France, and Iran with Great Britain.

4. Let's see
First we bomb Iran because of their weapons being used in Iraq. No, sorry, that was debunked.

Then we bomb Iran because they have nuclear weapons. Sorry, that damned NIE

Then we bomb Iran because of the Strait of Hormuz. Sorry, the Navy edited the films. Damn

I know! we bomb Iran because their weapons are being used against Americans in Iraq!

THESE PEOPLE LIE EVERY TIME THEY OPEN THEIR MOUTHS.

Just last month, iran earned the thanks of many countries for helping stop the insurgents and weapons from entering Iraq.

THESE PEOPLE LIE EVERY TIME THEY OPEN THEIR MOUTHS.

LITTLE GEORGIE WANTS HIS WAR AND HE WILL HOLD HIS BREATH UNTIL HE GETS IT!

10. Lies, all lies. Just total bullshit . . . if anyone has increased bombs, it's the U.S.

The reality is that, in a reprise of Nixon's Vietnamization strategy after January 1969 (when the U.S. basically bombed the shit out of South Vietnam while steadily reducing ground comabt forces), the US Air Force has started dropping massively more tonnage on Iraq since the surge began (including 40,000 lbs. of bombs just last week on alleged 'al quaida' hideouts south of Baghdad).

12. What about the Iranian boxes?
Has anyone ever found out what was in the boxes the Iranian speedboats were supposed to be tossing at the U.S. destroyer?

Perhaps it was an Iranian version of this devious event:

"GPO Official: We are here today to witness the opening of a new box to replace the box which used to stand at the corner of Ulverston Road and Sandwood Crescent. Owing to the road-widening programme carried out by the Borough Council, the Ulverston Road box was removed, leaving the wall box in Esher Road as the only box for the Ulverston Road area. This new box will enable the people of the Ulverston Road area to post letters, post-cards and small packages without recourse to the Esher Road box or to the box outside the post office at Turner's Parade which many people used to use, but which has now been discontinued owing to the opening of this box and also the re-organization of box distribution throughout the whole area, which comes into force with the opening of new boxes at the Wyatt Road Post Office in July."
