Judge won't put off state's [FL] Jan. 29 primary
Source: Associated Press

TALLAHASSEE - A federal judge refused to delay Florida's Jan. 29 presidential primary Thursday, ruling it's too late to move the election back because ballots have been printed, polling places arranged and poll workers scheduled.

Activists from both major parties had sought a temporary injunction to push Florida's primary back at least to Feb. 5 as required by Democratic and Republican party rules - flaunted by the state's GOP-controlled Legislature.

The national parties have punished Florida by stripping the state of all Democratic delegates and half its Republican delegation to the national nominating conventions. Similar penalties have been imposed on Michigan, which is holding a Jan. 15 primary.

"The lawsuit comes too late," said U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle. "We are too close to the election. There would be substantial disruption."

1. Same problem in Michigan
Elections are delicate operations and need a certain amount of lead time for the absentee ballots.

2. Florida's 210 delegates (and MI's 156 delegates)...
... will more than likely be seated at the convention.

Clinton is the only viable candidate in MI;
however, Clinton, Edwards and Obama are all
on the Florida ballot.

This is far from over.

3. And I REPEAT
That is a stupid argument. Florida and Michigan WILL HAVE NO CHANCE TO CHOOSE THE NOMINEE.

The delegates will ONLY be seated if it doesn't interfere with the result. That is true and you know it as well as I do. If people do vote in the primary and the result shows that Edwards gets Florida's delegate (lets go with 100 of them). Let's say the nominee ends up being Hilary and seating those delegates would mean that Edwards becomes the nominee.

There is NO fucking way she will seat the delegates. It IS over. We get no chance to choose the nominee.

4. Winning the FL primary may give momentum to a candidate a week before Super-Duper Tuesday

Don't be surprised if a lot of candidates come to FL to hold 'fundraisers' a few days before the primary.
