Japan's current account rises 40.4 percent in September

TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's current account surplus rose 40.4 percent in September from a year earlier, marking nine months of growth, the government said Monday.

The surplus in the current account stood at 2.883 trillion yen (US$26.07 billion) in September before seasonal adjustment, the Finance Ministry said. It increased 42.1 percent in August.

It's not just China running a trade surplus!

China's trade is probably more balanced. China imports a lot of capital goods from Japan and the EU, parts and assemblies from the other Asian countries, and raw materials from elsewhere. This largely offsets China's sales to the US.
