Ohio governor endorses Clinton
Source: http://www.hillaryhub.com/

Hillary Clinton has scored the most coveted Democratic endorsement from arguably the most important swing state in the nation: Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio.

As the Tribune first reported this morning, Strickland, the first-year governor with sky-high approval ratings, endorsed Clinton on a noon conference call. He praised the New York senator's experience - "These are very serious times for our nation and the world, and I believe we need a serious leader who is able to bring about the change we desperately need" - and perhaps most importantly, called her the Democrat best-positioned to win his critical state next fall.

In Ohio, Strickland said, "She is the strongest candidate that our party can put forth, and she is the candidate who can win the presidency."

Strickland is a pro-gun former Methodist minister who broke a 16-year Republican hold on the governorship last year. He won huge swaths of normally red rural Ohio, which analysts call key for a Democrat seeking the state's 20 crucial electoral votes.

4. A strategic endorsement
"best-positioned to win his critical state next fall." That was Pat Robertson's line when he endorsed Rudy the adulterer/mayor.

& we have a freeway that needs funded.

3. Ohio was leaning democratic and with this
endorsement will help HRC win the state and then there cannot be another florida in 2008.

There will be one more major event I believe will take place the day before or the day of the next dem debate on Wednesday November 14th and that is Robert Rubin will endorse HRC. Why is he important? He was the sect of the treasury that over saw the clinton peace and prosperity years. People will be influenced by this and I am of the opinion HRC will begin using the phrase "It's the economy". She may not go with, "It's the economy stupid" but then again she might....

8. I'm from Ohio
I'm from Ohio and I like Hillary. Some people make broad statements that may be true in their life but have little relevance to the great number of individuals who live in the state.

13. And why should Hillary supporters be worried about that poll?
1. That's a Northeast-Ohio-based poll. Northeast Ohio is steadily Democratic. I can only imagine what the south/central/western areas of Ohio would think, as they went heavy for Bewsh in 2004.

2. People who do not live in Ohio don't seem to get that Strickland and Sherrod Brown aren't Hillary Clinton. That's "tiger prevention" logic. Just because this state elected two relatively baggage-free, untouchable-by-MSM Dems doesn't mean the state is going to warm to a Clinton candidacy.

Brown ran on a populist message and spoke to the labor of this state and country, while his opponent simply had his face firmly planted in Bewsh's ass. Strickland is a minister, which gained him a lot of rural votes. Let's also not forget that they ran against two first-round draft pics of the most unabashed right-wing nutcases Ohio has ever seen in politics: Bewsh's most reliable rubberstamp Mike DeWine and Bewsh's most reliable 2004 flunky Ken Blackwell.

Hillary is a baggage-laden windsock who sealed the deal in 2005 with her "outsourcing will continue" speech to Indian business leaders. Ohio is a working-class state that's been bleeding jobs. We care about the needs of LABOR and ending this war. Everything else is a detail.

15. We had a poll call a couple days ago.
My daughter answered the questions since she was the one that answered the phone. It originated in CT. and was mostly all about Guiliani, Hilary and Strickland.

She said they repeatedly asked about Strickland as HRC's running mate. Then this morning, I heard on the news that Strickland is speaking out about that "rumor"..that he's not looking to be her running mate.

Our household isn't crazy about HRC either.
