Illegal Immigrants become campaign tool.
Bush Plan Reaches Out To Illegal Workers
President To Give Speech Wednesday

POSTED: 10:59 p.m. EST January 6, 2004
UPDATED: 10:59 p.m. EST January 6, 2004

WASHINGTON -- President George W. Bush is proposing removing the fear of deportation among illegal foreign workers.

Bush will give a speech Wednesday asking Congress to approve changes in immigration policy -- and give legal status to the workers.

Senior administration officials outlined the plan Tuesday night, saying it will make the country safer by giving officials a better idea of who is crossing the border. They say it will also help the economy and protect illegal workers' rights.

The plan would not put the workers on the fast track to permanent U.S. residency. Bush is including incentives for the workers to return to their native countries.

A group representing Hispanic immigrants says the program essentially rewards employers who have been hiring undocumented workers -- while offering the workers almost nothing.

The plan is aimed at improving relations with Mexico and attracting Latino support in an election year.

1. This is a red herring. There is no WAY this will pass, but it makes him
look like some sort of liberal thinking fella or whatever.

It's like when he went to the UN begging for money, he gets to be the victim when everyone says no, but gets to be the idealist for making the approach.

So he gets to be the victim here too, since all the white colonists will not want the mexicans and latinos and hispanics legalized.

He wins by losing. It's a vote catching game.

We should cheer and support the measure with ALL our strength. See if it will backfire on him. I doubt it though, most of the white colonists here hate anyone with a tan, regardless of the fact they were here long before we were.

4. Let me get this straight.
You are saying illegal immigrants have been here long before white "colonists"? Why are they still "illegal" if they been here that long?

You're argument doesn't make since.

Illegals should not cut in line. Never. There is a process to become a citizen of the United States. Why are illegals being given preferental treatment? It should be the opposite. They and the people that hire them should all be deported.

3. Here's a question:
Would all of this go down in time for these "new citizens" to, ah, vote?
