US breaking WTO rules: China
Source: Economic Times India

23 Aug. 2007

BEIJING: China said Thursday an increasingly protectionist United States was breaking World Trade Organisation rules as part of ongoing commercial disputes.

The violation of WTO regulations has come about in the process of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations launched by the United States against five product categories, Vice Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng said.

"Investigations and measures undertaken by the United States will lead to double taxation," Gao told a briefing in Beijing. "You can't do that according to WTO rules."

The five categories -- including items such as art paper, steel pipe and tyres -- have been targeted in the period since November, a frequency rarely seen in contemporary global trade, Gao said.

3. Speaking of WTO rules: What about all the toy and pet food recalls?
Is the United States violating WTO rules by forcing Mattel and other distributors to recall tainted toys, clothing and food from China? Could China successfully get the WTO governing body to impose sanctions on the United States as a result?

5. Short answer: no.

And frankly, regulation has been so weak that I'm not even sure Mattel was "forced" to recall tainted toys, or just did it to cover its own butt.

6. Chinese Diplomat
There was a Chinese Diplomat visiting one of our state Universitys reacently.
He was disgusted with our media for making so much of the 'tainted' products from China and recalls.
Killing dogs and kids isn't a big deal there, I guess. No money, Mo money.

8. They should be double taxed.
They keep their currency undervalued on purpose and EVERYTHING that comes from there is poisonous. Repeal the WTO, NAFTA, let China sustain themselves without our help. I know it would hurt us some, but we could rebound.
