Figure in Iraq Mosque Bombing Is Killed, U.S. Says

By STEPHEN FARRELL
Published: August 5, 2007

BAGHDAD, Aug. 4 — The insurgent who planned the bombing of
Al Askari mosque in Samarra earlier this summer has been killed
in an air raid, the American military announced Saturday.

Haythem Sabah al-Badri, who was reputed to be the leader of
Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia in Salahuddin Province, was killed in
a strike northeast of Samarra, the northern city where two
minarets at the Shiite mosque were demolished in the blast,
on June 13.

A bomb attack in February 2006 destroyed the shrine’s famous
golden dome, and set off a wave of reprisal attacks and killings
that left tens of thousands dead across Iraq.

The Iraqi government has blamed Mr. Badri for both bombings,
although the American military said it was only confirming his
involvement in this year’s attack.

2. Another No 2#guy?.
Think this is another no#2 guy or what?
I ask, because there seems to be a endless suplies of no#2 guys, and many seem to have more than one life, because we have killed many of them repeatedly,or more than once.
Sometimes I wonder how come there is so many no#2 guys, and not enough,3,4,5,6,and 7 guys, and so on. :wtf:

6. As the sayin' goes: "ya can't eliminate terrarism(tm) by killing...
terrarists(tm)" because "kill 1 #2, and you'll create 3 #2's to fill in the temporary vacant spot"

Proof: "The last six years."

There should be classes on "How To Be Effective At Eliminating The Need For Some To Become Terrarists(tm) In The First Place" but I guess that wouldn't be profitable enuf.

US claims victories against Qaeda in Iraq

By Peter Graff

BAGHDAD, Aug 5 (Reuters) - U.S. and Iraqi government
forces in Iraq claimed a series of victories on Sunday
against al Qaeda militants in a central province that
has been one of the heartlands of the Sunni militant
insurgency.

U.S. forces said they had killed Salahuddin province's
top al Qaeda leader, blamed for a pivotal 2006 attack
on a Shi'ite shrine in Samarra that was a turning point
in the conflict, and also said Iraqis had captured 80
militant suspects in the town.

Among the al Qaeda figures they said they had captured
were the group's local leaders for the cities of Samarra
and Tikrit, home town of ousted leader Saddam Hussein.

U.S. and Iraqi officials frequently say they have killed
or captured leading al Qaeda figures, and the precise
role that any particular individual may have played in
the shadowy militant group is often difficult to assess.

5. Wasn't this golden dome
an inside job?
I find it impossible to believe nobody was killed in that demolition blast.
