U.S. Kills 3 in Iraq Suspected of Al Qaeda Links
By Seb Walker

MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. forces said they killed three suspected members of a group linked to al Qaeda in a gunbattle in Iraq (news - web sites), and U.S. allies Thailand and Bulgaria vowed their soldiers would stay despite suffering a deadly attack.

...

U.S. military officers said that during a raid on a house in the northern city of Mosul on Sunday night, "suspected members of the Ansar al-Islam terrorist group" attacked soldiers with gunfire and grenades, wounding two.

"When the soldiers attempted to enter the home the suspects engaged them with small arms fire and one grenade. The unit returned fire, then entered and cleared the building," the 101st Airborne Division said in a statement.

"The American soldiers killed three terrorists during the operation, and turned one male, two females and three children over to the Iraqi police."

Two rocket-propelled grenade launchers, eight grenades and several religious books with "anti-coalition content" were also seized.

2. This is sort of what would happen
...if a bunch of soldiers busted into my neighbor's house, I imagine.

I don't think he has RPGs, though. I could be wrong. Although I'm pretty sure there's books with "anti-coalition content" in there.

4. dead suspects tell no tales....
Conveniently, they NEVER turn out to be innocents. Bag 'em, tag 'em, and increment the terrorist counter. American foreign policy in action.
