An exhibition of the atrocities the Nazis perpetrated on German and Polish gays is coming to Minneapolis, the home of a state legislator who claims gays made up their victimization during the Holocaust to gain sympathy

3. What I simply can't believe is that he "claims" he grew up

during WWII and never heard of the gay persecution until recently. I'm 38 and I've been studying the Holocaust since I was TEN YEARS OLD, and one of the first things I learned was that gays were almost as persecuted as Jews, and suffered a great deal under the Nazis. Such persecution was extremely well-documented and impossible to deny, which makes me wonder where the hell he got his so-called "information."

I also cannot believe that someone would hate a group so much that he would not only deny their very real and documented persecution and destruction, but refuse to even be enlightened on the subject by voluntarily visiting the Holocaust Museum exhibit.

6. The US and England joined in the persecution

after the war, in the concentration camps liberated by the US and England, we refused to release anyone in the camps sentenced under a term specific. Gays were sentenced to 8 years. We transfered them to prisons in England to serve out the rest of their sentences.

See: the book Conduct Unbecoming on the history of gays in the military by Randy Shilts. It will make you sick. (We also refused to grant deferments during Vietnam to men who said they were gay. We drafted them, made them serve (several were killed and injured) and when the war was over we gave them all dishonorable discharges (because they said they were gay when they were drafted) which deprived them of their GI benefits.)
