AP Exclusive: Corzine says he's blessed to be alive
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 04:32 PM by RamboLiberal
Source: Philly.com

Gov. Jon S. Corzine, speaking publicly for the first time since he was seriously injured in a highway accident two weeks ago, said Thursday that he feels blessed to be alive.

"I'm the most blessed person who ever lived," Corzine told an Associated Press photographer Thursday from his hospital room.

Sitting in a chair next to his hospital bed, Corzine appeared in good spirits as he posed for his first public photographs since the April 12 crash on the Garden State Parkway.

Corzine did not allow a reporter to interview him in his room. His only comment was made during a five-minute photo session with the AP photographer, whom he greeted with a handshake as he entered the room.

New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine rests his broken leg on a stool as he looks through get well cards today while sitting in a chair in his hospital room at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Speaking publicly for the first time since he was seriously injured in an automobile accident two weeks ago, said Thursday that he feels blessed to be alive.

1. Looks quite good
for a guy who hit a guard rail at 91 mph without a seat belt on.

And from now on, wear your seatbelt.

5. I don't care if he's a Dem or not, he's a fucking dumbass.
He's not the most blessed person who ever lived. He's a dumbass who wasn't wearing his seatbelt, and got lucky. He played Russian Roulette and won.

There's a reason for speed limits, and a reason for seatbelt laws.

6. Couldn't have said it better. . .
My first reaction, on hearing details of the crash, was a sigh of relief that no one intelligent was hurt.

7. Hopefully
Hopefully he will leave this experience with just that message. Corzine is a good guy and I'm glad he's okay, but you are right and he would probably be the first to say so.

9. I don't know much about him, but I would tend to agree that he's a good guy (from
what I have heard). I just hope he has learned his lesson :)

8. Yes, I'd say the most blessed person
Is the person who was riding in the backseat and wasn't killed when Corzine's body came flying back there during the accident.

11. I'm relieved that he looks so good
I hope he learns the lesson that he is mortal even though he is a gazillionaire.
