DeLay says top Dems close to treason
Source: Tribune-Review

By Andrew Conte
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Tuesday, April 24, 2007

Democratic leaders are acting like traitors by opposing the Iraq war, and President Bush must answer with a toughened stance, former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said Monday.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "are getting very, very close to treason," DeLay said in a meeting with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

"We have people dying," he said. "Not just our soldiers, but innocent citizens dying in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hands of these evil people, and you have your elected leaders making these kinds of statements that embolden the enemy. It's unbelievable."

~snip~

Bush cannot afford to lose this fight, DeLay said. The president must demand a "clean bill" that does not set a withdrawal date or include so-called pork barrel spending on unrelated projects, he said.

"(Bush) comes back and says, 'I want a clean bill, and unless I get a clean bill with no pork in it, I'm going to veto it,' " Delay said. "See who blinks."

~snip-~

He remains under indictment in his home state of Texas on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 02:43 AM by MaryBear
Do not take a chance that the voters will pay attention to anything but your vile name-calling, oppressive, vindictive shenanigans.

Well, guess what!

We are smart enough to know treason when we see it.

And we see it in you, in Mr. Bush, and in Mr. Chainer, to name but a few of your cohorts.

He's one step removed from a felony conviction. Tom Delay was never well-like, even among his political allies, and his ranting these days only convinces normal people that the country is better off without him.

This is the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, owned by Richard Mellon Scaife. Only right-wing lunatics are listing to this guy any more. Attacking his position (or posting the article on liberal websites) only adds a patina of respectability.

Ignore him and he'll quietly start his prison sentence and assume his status of political footnote.

4. What the hell is going on
Why is this criminal in the news so much the past few weeks?

First I saw where he was lying about being free from all legal troubles on Lou Dobbs. Then he was calling for Rosie O'Donnell's resignation. Next he was comparing himself to the Duke University students which were accused of rape. Now this.

What's up?

7. What's up with the current Republican caucus? . . .
None of them capable of being spokesman for their side? Too concerned with looming electoral defeat to enter the fray themselves? Gotta get their Plastic Hammer out instead, try to bang their way into public favor using a discredited, indicted, soon to be incarcerated (hope I hope I hope) unscrupulous Bug Man.

What a Party. . .nothing grand about it, not old enough. . .

11. It's his new book
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 04:06 AM by Lone_Star_Dem
I don't know how I forgot about it, perhaps since it's not on my "must read" list.

He's doing anything he can think of to get in the press to draw attention to his book. No doubt he's spent most of the campaign funds that he had left on his defense and he's getting desperate in regards to generating sales of his book.

A funny aside. Locally a businessman pulled a gun on his wife in a delusional fit. The local police raided his 1.5 million dollar weekend home, which he was living in since his wife threw him out, to serve the warrant. They found both meth and cocaine in the home in a somewhat large amount.

He, being a big money donor to DeLay and loyal Republican chose to use DeLay's attorney since, "he must be the best." He paid the attorney more than $250,000 to defend him.

He's currently serving a 20 year sentence and paying the attorney for his appeal.

More just like him. All this delusion and sociopathy that we see certainly must have an external causative factor in a representative number of cases.

A lot of them seem to feel they are above and beyond the law. When they do, that is the kind of stuff you get.

I often wondered what happened to all the white boy coke dealers from the 80's. I decided they all joined the repukes.

26. We cannot end the war
We won the war we started, back when bush declared "Mission Accomplished." It is over. We defeated the much-vaunted Iraq1 Army with its Elite Republican Guard and all those scary weapons.

A civil war arose afterwards, and we are not officially taking sides. So we are not fighting a war. We are occupying a country, where some 70% of the people want us to leave.

We failed to follow through on our promises of reconstruction, because we put criminals in charge who robbed us blind.

We do provide some level of security to individuals when our troops are in their area fighting against their enemies. But it is sporadic, and the backlash after we move on is worse than the good we do.

We cannot end the war - neither by "winning" nor by "withdrawing" nor by "cutting and running" because it is not ours to win or lose.

The administration is tilting at windmills, inventing bogeymen to rationalize their continued fools mission. The fool, of course, is the CinC, who happily set off on a "great adventure" to show up daddy and make himself a hero, fooled by the PNAC crowd who were and are after world domination. The "unitary president" is just a step along the way for them to a "unitary world dictator"

22. And When al Qaeda Was Busy in Africa, What About YOU?
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 06:48 AM by VogonGlory
Do you think we're THAT forgetful, Mr. DeLay? When the al Qaeda terrorists were busy bombing US embassies in East Africa in 1998, what were you and your fellow Republicans doing? Did you put aside your partisan rancor just enough to signal your support for the Clinton administration's efforts to catch the villains who killed over 200 people? Did you take the small bother to say that Americans were united against those who sought to kill us? Did you even take notice of Osama bin Laden's fatwa calling for killing Americans everywhere?

We remember what you and your fellows did. You said that impeaching former president Clinton was more important than pursuing the bombers and spent the remainder of former president Clinton's term playing partisan Republican games while terrorists were busy killing or plotting to kill Americans.

Recuse yourself, mister. You have no business accusing ANYONE of treason.

That is thousands of people KILLED because of Bush et al's dishonest warmongering policies; and Delay is blaming Reid for discussing the situation. Not supporting Bush equals treason, in his warped opinion. Divine Right of Kings, and all that.

35. Hmmm, this is the same Tom Delay that said this....
"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our overextended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today"
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

and this:

"You can support the troops but not the president"
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

oh, and this:

Bombing a sovereign nation for ill-defined reasons with vague objectives undermines the American stature in the world. The international respect and trust for America has diminished every time we casually let the bombs fly."
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

Gosh, what a surprise, Mr. delay is a two-faced POS.

54. What place or call does a retired exterminator and disgraced public servant
have in a newspaper other than possibly the police blotter?

He's a fucking criminal of the highest order.

Pelosi and Reid have miles to go before they catch up to the treasonous actions of BushCo. Maybe Tom is unclear on the definition of "treason". Someone should tell Tom it doesn't mean "shit I don't like".

I'm even more sick of hearing from that Lying, sanctimonious barf-bag than I am of hearing from Bush himself.

He was put on the curb months ago. Please haul away that rotting dumpster of refuse lest a contagion erupt.

58. If the Dems are close to treason then the Repugs
got treason drunk on tequila shots, lured treason up to their apartment with promises of modeling work and blow, then gang fucked treason after treason had passed out on the couch.

Is it not treason to lie about the reason going to War On Iraq? Isn't that putting our military in harm's way for profit?

How many crimes have the bushits committed against our country?

71. Oh Mr. DeLay. Which cell block would you prefer?
Do you want to bunk with mumbling Jake whose in here because of sexually exposing himself to men in a park that's reputed for it's increase of 'gay activity' or, maybe, the cell with Ambinal, an ex-motorcycle gang member who want you to 'pooh-pooh' only at six forty five am every other day because that's when the disinfectant spray is applied? I think you have more immediate worries at hand.

79. What a punk. This guy's not a conservative.
A true conservative would be against all of this military intervention and all of the bloated spending that comes along with it. He's committing treason against his own political ideology (which has been the case with every Republican president after Eisenhower).

83. TomDelay needs to have his definition of "pork barrel" corrected!
Pork Barrel is not what the Democrats are adding to this bill. They are making corrections that would benefit *ALL* Americans of things that have been neglected for a while, not "local perks" that pork barrel is defined as being when characterizing additions to a bill.

I've just heard this meme from some others so I'm sure that freeper land is echoing his comments here. Read the definition of pork here:

http://www.answers.com/topic/pork-barrel

pork barrel
n. Slang.

A government project or appropriation that yields jobs or other benefits to a specific locale and patronage opportunities to its political representative.

Under idioms...

pork barrel

Government funding of something that benefits a particular district, whose legislator thereby wins favor with local voters. For example, Our senator knows the value of the pork barrel. This expression alludes to the fatness of pork, equated with political largesse since the mid-1800s. (c. 1900)
