White House hopes Gonzales will stay on
White House hopes Gonzales will stay on By HOPE YEN, Associated Press Writer
20 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Amid bipartisan calls for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' resignation in a scandal over dismissals of eight federal prosecutors, the White House said Monday, "We hope he stays."

When asked if Gonzales will serve for the rest of President Bush's term, White House press secretary Tony Snow said, "Well, we hope so."

Gonzales is under fire for the removal of eight U.S. attorneys and the bungled way their firings were explained to Congress.

Bush has expressed confidence in Gonzales and defended the removal of the prosecutors, but also voiced frustration that lawmakers were not provided straightforward information.

They are going to force another great American to resign. It's another victory for the terrorists.

6. As soon as Bush and his cronies agree on a replacement
Gonzales will resign and spend more time with his family. His successor will not correct the mistakes because that would mean rehiring the people that were fired.

13. Who will they pick? Maybe we should help them.
How about Pat Robertson?
Ted Haggard?
Harriet Miers?
Negroponte?
Wolfowitz?
Dan Burton?
Mark Souder?
Rick Santorum?

On the other hand they could appoint Lam.

8. Translation: We will not ask him to resign (wink, wink) BUT he will
insist on resigning for the good of the administration so it will not be OUR fault, it will be those dastardly anti-Gonzales people who forced him to leave.

9. How's that again, Gonzo?
You're feeling a sudden need to spend more time with your family? Quel surprise!

Not like it's the first time we've heard that line from someone in your criminal enterprise as they announced their untimely departure, ya know!

12. Of course they want him to stay
Would you want to be Bush trying to get another Yes Man through a Dem Congress?

And would you want Gonzalez going unemployed with all of your dirty laundry in tow?

The Paraguayan Senate voted last summer to “grant U.S. troops immunity from national and International Criminal Court (ICC) jurisdiction.”

Not a troop but a lover of troops breaking international laws, our Alberto.
