John Bolton wants regime-change in Iran

<snip>

Bolton, one of the principal architects of the Iraq war, and an advocate of regime-change in Iraq long before the March 2003 invasion, said, "I believe that either regime-change in Iran or, as a last resort, military action, is the only thing that will stop the Iranians from getting nuclear weapons."

Bolton also took aim at European nations, particularly Britain, Germany, and France, which he said persuaded the U.S. to "screw around" with talks, which over the last three and a half years have achieved nothing, and allowed Iran to continue developing its nuclear program.

In a C-SPAN interview Bolton lamented declining support for the Bush administration. "For God's sakes, it needs to stand up and defend itself. No reason to act limp-wristed," he said.

"They should defend their policies and not allow The New York Times to characterize their policy. They should get out and speak what's on their minds," he added.

40. Because It Worked So Well In Iraq!
How's that Iraqi regime change going for you, PNACers? Felling any more powerful and secure? Do you really think anybody's going to honor those illegitimate oil contracts you stuffed down the Iraqi throats? Dop you really think the US fascists will ever occupy that Imperial Palace outside Baghdad, or the new bases under construction?

How'd you like to buy a bridge--it's a steal!

8. Bottom line - invade Iran....
he doesn't want Bush to "screw around" with talks, so the other alternative is war. What a tough guy he is, "no reason to act limp-wristed". If we invaded Iran I believe the end result would be even worse than Iraq.

13. Um....
I find it absurd that a country as volatile and unpredictable in its military decision-making as the US has the right to dictate to any other country whether they can have nuclear weapons.

And I also doubt that we have dismantled ours.

I know that we believe we have the right to do this... clearly we proved this by invading Iraq over the premise of "WMD"s. But the world is going to get VERY sick of our high-handedness soon. And when this happens, it won't be pretty.

17. should read; high ranking nazi from neocon central
Edited on Fri Mar-02-07 11:26 AM by Gryphons Eyre
I believe people such as John Bolten and Dick Cheney are dangerously psychotic. They are totally out of control. Bombing Iran which is what will happen unless congress acts will precipitate world wide conflict; we might just as well refer to it as the Israelis and neocons refer to it already as WWIII. Discussion has nothing to do with this and even Iranian nuclear objectives are not the major reason for pushing for war; regime change is. Not only in Iran but in Syria while securing tyrannies in Iraq and Lebanon sympathetic to the U.S. and Israel.

This is not about what Iran has done; for all intents they have been the victims of western imperialism. It is about what America wants to do. period.

33. They're in a race between being outed and finishing the job
which is getting the US mired in the middle east. Iran has always been at the top of their to-do list as the Larry Franklin indictment shows. I believe Bolton et al were part of a conspiracy to defraud the American people of their representative government and statutory agencies. They conspired to deceive us in order to commandeer our wealth and power for their own agenda, one they knew the American people would not knowingly accept. Part of it is the Likud. Part of it is oil. Part of it might have more to do with the Enterprise, which was a consortium of rich folks (includes both Israel and Saudi Arabia) who want a neo-world order. Then there's the imperialists in the military. The corruption of privatized defense contracting making war even more profitable than before. There are a lot of reasons, but the conspiracy to defraud I think is reasonable clear.
