Saddam capture a warning for Palestinians and Damascus: Israel
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/031215/1/3gobq.html

Israel said Saddam Hussein's capture was a lesson to Palestinians and Syria to abandon "terrorism" as Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom sought to patch up relations with the United States on a trip to Washington.

"The fall of Saddam Hussein should serve as a lesson to the Palestinians as well as Syria," senior government spokesman Avi Pazner told AFP.

"The Palestinians must proceed to examine their conscience and give up their support for Saddam by recognising that resorting to violence and terrorism will not bring them anything," Pazner said Monday.

"The Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, who forged a close alliance with Saddam Hussein, must also learn the lessons" of falling foul of Washington, said Pazner.

1. WTF
"Falling foul of Washington."
It seems pretty easy to do that these days, you don't even have to own a country, try it, it's fun.

3. Coming from Sharon's government
this is almost as sickly funny as Henry Kissinger getting the Nobel Peace Prize.

This probably belongs in the Palestinian/Isreali affairs section, or will soon.

7. Even Arafat got a Nobel prize
Maybe it was from his creative use of explosives?

5. now we see the real reason we attacked Iraq
not to protect the US from terrorism, but to protect Israel. American tax dollars (and blood) at work.

8. That sounds resonable
How can we get Dean and others to bring this fact up and pound dubya over the head with it? I have sent emails asking them to bring it up.

9. What possible connection is there?
I would say, rather, that it's a warning to Sharon -- heads of state can become ex heads of state, and ex heads of state can be captured and charged with government-sponsored terrorism.

11. I hate to say it but he's right
The Palestinians have to realize that people like Arafat,Hamas etc do NOT have the Pals best interest at heart. They are being used by both sides in this conflict.

13. They certainly should be giving up the
incurions and land grabbing in the Gaza, their WMDs and their home grown war criminal Sharon.
