CBC: BSE confirmed in Alberta bull
A mature bull from Alberta has tested positive for mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy, becoming Canada's 10th confirmed case and the first of 2007.

The animal's carcass is now under Canadian Food Inspection Agency control, and no part of it entered the human food or animal feed systems, the agency said in a release Wednesday.

The agency did not reveal where the animal was found or how old it was.

2. CTV mentioned that the age of the bull
was well within what they expected the ages to be in any new cases ie: probably contaminated feed when it was young. It didn't mention the exact age, just that it was old enough to have been fed contaminated feed in the 90's.

3. This part makes me suspicious
"The agency did not reveal where the animal was found or how old it was."

We know that at least one cow got BSE after the feed ban took effect (sloppy manufacturing process or something).

"In 2006, five infected cattle were found in Canada, including a cow born years after safeguards were adopted to prevent the spread of the disease."

They imply the bull was old enough to have been contaminated before the feed ban, but they don't actually say that.
