Iraq's Illegal Weapons Are Clear, Bush Says
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A62543-2003Dec13.html?referrer=email

Report Frames President's Record
By Mike Allen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, December 14, 2003; Page A06

<snip>

The White House said in a year-end report released yesterday that the invasion of Iraq had produced "clear evidence of Saddam's illegal weapons program" and new intelligence about his ties to terrorist organizations.

Those statements and other assertions in the eight-page report offer a preview of President Bush's plan for framing his record as he begins the final year of his term and plunges into his reelection campaign. The document also could provide fodder for Democratic presidential candidates, who contend that crucial elements of Bush's prewar case have been discredited.

"Working with the Iraqi people," the report says, "we are now learning the full truth about Saddam Hussein's regime, including: the mass graves of more than 300,000 victims of Saddam's brutality; clear evidence of Saddam's illegal weapons program; and previously undocumented ties to terror organizations."

DUers, okay, they found Saddam. Can we now get past that tidbit and FOCUS on the important issues again? Saddam's capture was inevitable.

Read this article and see exactly what kind of nonsense they are spewing and how this crap has to be debunked. Don't sweat the small stuff. The guy was toast a long time ago. We need to push to get the truth out regading bullshit stories like this. And we need to quit sniping at each other. This election is too important.

15. A Potential future problem that was Iraq is now a current problem for US
and Bush has made a spot little jihad into what Bush is proud to note as the place where every jihad believer wants to go to in order to mix it up with the US. And Bush is proud that the US deaths occur outside our borders!

And hanging a target on our kids in the military, while ignoring the real terror problems of Afghanistan and elsewhere, gets Bush a multi-day media story of how Bush has helped the USA?

Not that we have a GOP right wing controlled media - they just act that way.

Donkey Carts of mass Destruction -- I like it.

And, the leader who supposedly had all these WMDs is hiding in hole with only 2 guards, some money and a pistol. Where were his biological weapons? Where were his chemical weapons? How come he didn't have a low level nuke with him to set off to wipe out all of his would-be captors?

7. The Office of Global Communications at work
Bush's global communications strategy is the brainchild of one of his closest advisers, Karen Hughes. It is a strategy born of the Bush team's experience in political campaigns and honed during the war in Afghanistan, and its chief objective is to respond nearly instantly to criticism of the administration or the war anywhere in the Arab world throughout the 24-hour-a-day news cycle.

The office, expected to remain in place after the Iraq war ends, handles not only daily planning but also longer-term issues. That ability to chart a course far ahead of time, and adhere closely to it regardless of outside distractions, has been a Bush hallmark.

"That crowd that came out of Texas didn't succeed by worrying only about a day at a time or a week at a time," one senior administration official said.

The Pentagon put its own public-relations team in place shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, when it hired The Rendon Group on a $100,000-a-month contract. The State Department launched its campaign to sell American ideals overseas when it hired a former Madison Avenue advertising executive to run its Office of Public Diplomacy.

What STUNNING arrogance.

"That ability to chart a course far ahead of time, and adhere closely to it regardless of outside distractions, has been a Bush hallmark."

Well, I have another quote, diametrically opposed to the above:

"Battle plans rarely survive the first engagement with the enemy."

Reagrdless of outside distractions?

Including those that change the entire situation?

Sheesh...

30. indeed, saddam's believed to have had large supplies of a clear,
colorless, odorless chemcical compound known as "Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO), also referred to by some as Dihydrogen Oxide, Hydrogen Hydroxide, Hydronium Hydroxide, or simply Hydric acid. Its basis is the unstable radical Hydroxide, the components of which are found in a number of caustic, explosive and poisonous compounds such as Sulfuric Acid, Nitroglycerine and Ethyl Alcohol."

the website http://www.dhmo.org lists some of the uses of this terrible, terrible chemical (making it so very very clear why it was so urgent to stop saddam before he used it again):

What are some uses of Dihydrogen Monoxide?

Some of the well-known uses of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:

as an industrial solvent and coolant,
in nuclear power plants,
by the U.S. Navy in the propulsion systems of some older vessels,
by elite athletes to improve performance,
in the production of Styrofoam,
in biological and chemical weapons manufacture,
as a spray-on fire suppressant and retardant,
in abortion clinics,
as a major ingredient in many home-brewed bombs,
as a byproduct of hydrocarbon combustion in furnaces and air conditioning compressor operation,
in cult rituals,
by the Church of Scientology on their members and their members' families,
by both the KKK and the NAACP during rallies and marches,
by pedophiles and pornographers (for uses we'd rather not say here),
by the clientele at a number of homosexual bath houses in New York City and San Francisco,
historically, in Hitler's death camps in Nazi Germany, and in prisons in Turkey, Serbia, Croatia, Libya, Iraq and Iran,
in World War II prison camps in Japan, and in prisons in China, for various forms of torture,
by the Serbian military as authorized by Slobodan Milosevic in their recent ethnic cleansing campaign,
in animal research laboratories, and
in pesticide production and distribution.

10. there ya go
see--Bush was right. told ya <sarcasm> what is it with these mass graves?

Saddam was captured and since we support the capture of Saddam, no matter how many were killed to git em, we are now treated to this piece of shit nonsense. This is absolute genius and quite unassailable if you applauded Bush for his "capture" of Saddam no matter how many children he killed to git em.

You give Bush an inch and he will take a yard--and another yard, and another yard, until he has you reeling in your own sanctimonius hubris and your own feelings of revenge at any cost. He is in total control of the bully pulpit. He's got the religion thing down pat, and he's got the "leader", the tough military CIC "leader" thing down pat. Is there anyone left that would oppose him in anything he does? He has gotten most of what he wants, as he has done all of his life. He is used to getting his way and he, indeed, has and will get his way in the future if the attitudes I read today continue. We are like leaves being tossed about in the asshole's wind.

Only this time the cost will be, I fear, another country invaded, attacked or destroyed because the little man is on a roll now-better believe that he has called his costumer and is stacking up on a few more costumes to wear for the next four years-and he has the support of mostly everyone now from the comments and quotes I read today. Except maybe Kucinich--brave man that he is.

22. My favorite lie:
The report, "2003: A Year of Accomplishment for the American People," begins by saying that since
Bush took office, "109 million taxpayers have received, on average, a tax cut of $1,544."

So, say Michael Eisner gets a tax cut of $154,400, and I and ten others get $15.44 (or something like that) it works out to an average of $1,544. Clever.

35. I have been saying that along those lines for years
People are either:
1) Too lazy to verify the information.
2) Don't have the resources available to verify the information.
3) Are in their car and can't check out the information for themselves.
4) Accept the information as true because it is plausible.

That is how people like Limbaugh, Liddy, Savage, and others get away with their lies.
In conjunction with that:
1) Their listeners are not concerned about the truth.
2) Their listeners are easily fooled.
3) Their listeners are wanting to hate.
4) See the other excuses above.

The media is at fault too.
1) TV programs like Ted Kopple's "Nightline" show fail to ask the leading questions and especially the follow-up questions.
2) The time period is too short for obtaining all of the facts.
3) And programs that pretend to be about news that include Geraldo Rivera, Connie Chung, and others. They are mostly puff.

33. More White House obfuscation
Weapons programs are not not weapons. Before the war, the Frat Boy and other members of his junta were talking about weapons, fully developed and ready to deploy. Powell told us what and how much (he was lying) and Rumsfeld told us where (he was lying, too).

Iraq was not an immediate threat last spring. Accordingly, there was no justification for war.

If the mainstream media, which is owned by the same people who own the Bush junta, don't want to get this word out, then it is up to us.

41. WMDs Words of Mass deception
Stop having memories. This is really getting troublesome.

First you are supposed to think only of Saddam as the capture goal, our latest true purpose in being there. This was well never stated, but as future Republicans you are supposed to media spin toward your candidate regardless. Damn that liberal media. Don't research how Prescott Bush made a fortune at Autschwitz during WWII. How pappy Bush was in France on Oct. 18, 1980 meeting with terrorists so they would not release the hostages until after the US presidential election. How W. hid his pappy's, Ronnie's and his governorship's papers as one of his first acts as appointed Prez. How Bush fled like a scared rabbit on 9/11, ducked the Viet Nam "war". You guys just remember too much. How could you hope to be Republicans? Aren't you supposed to guzzle beer and use shorter words?

I bet some of you are even going to question the 9/11 incident. You want passenger lists? Aren't you impressed with 4 of 4 hijackings and no photographic proof? I hope so otherwise you might not buy into Bush's oil buddies, the bin Ladens are the supreme masterminds of this pinpoint aerial piracy. Of course he has "bin" captured. Oh wait, we have the energy pipeline and the oil partnah protected. Okay who else has more oil, oops, evil? Ah Iraq, at only $1 a barrel to extract and not pass on the savings of $28/barrel to the public! Okay so we put Saddam into power. Forget about it! Doesn't get the oil into the hands of the rich. No weapons of mass destruction. Forget about it! Still no oil flowing! Caught Saddam? Forget about it! Until the election. With a week to go and Bush down in the polls, expect guilty by execution to come out!
