Governor Perry shows compassionate conservatism (NOT)
by parking in a hanidcapped spot while on the way to put George W. Bush on the ballot.

A driver for Gov. Rick Perry parked the governor's official vehicle in a handicapped spot Wednesday when taking Perry to file papers to put President Bush's name on the Texas Republican primary ballot.

"It was unintentional, and it was an honest mistake," Perry spokesman Robert Black said. "No one saw the sign. However, we take full responsibility, and we will make a donation in the amount of the parking fine to an appropriate charity for persons with disabilities."

Perry and some aides went into the Liberty Bank building downtown, where the Republican Party of Texas is headquartered, and stayed for about 30 minutes, a woman who answered the phone at the bank said. She declined to give her name.

"It was kind of ironic, in a sense, because it's the governor," the woman said.

This is the same Prick Perry (misspelling intentional) who screamed and hollered at a female Texas DPS officer just a few years back for pulling over presumably the same limousine and driver...for speeding!

I wonder if ol Prick Perry donated the amount of a speeding ticket to some local hospital or something so that some destitute person who got injured by a speeder could get medical treatment? Bet not.

Prick Perry needs to go iin '06, and he needs to take Dewhurst with him! Let this dumb-ass Aggie go back to Paint Creek where he belongs! Get him out of my otherwise lovely City of Austin!!

My dad was handicapped and NEEDED those spots. I watched him struggle the final two years of his life, while some able-bodied jerk borrowed some friend's placard, and parked in the handicapped spots! God that used to piss me off!

Now, I will freely admit...I have a handicapped friend, and, when I can help it...she and I do go Christmas shopping together, so that we can use her car, and park in handicapped, so we don't go nuts looking for a spot. But, damn, my handicapped friend is WITH me!! I'd never borrow her placard and go alone, that would be just plain wrong!

9. I remember that little scandal awhile back
Aggie football players illegally using handicap signs to park on campus as I recall. Is that what you were referring to?

may be to support Hutchinson or Rylander (Strayhorn? Keeton?) in the Republican primary next time. This has become such a f*cking Republican state! When we were Democrat-dominated, bipartisanship was the name of the game and nobody really gave a hoot about the difference between D and R. Now that the Republicans are in, they're practically arresting Democrats for being Democrats. Unfortunately, it's working for them.

8. It is annoying when people abuse the use of handicaped spaces
but keep in mind that someone who appears to be able-bodied may not be.

I speak from experience. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 5 years ago, and was able to apply for a
handicap permit. I have gotten some really dirty looks and incredibly rude comments from people as my
physical handicap is not obvious. For me, the more walking I do, the longer I am on my feet, especially in
hot weather, my whole left side gets weaker and weaker, until I will be dragging my left leg.

10. "Let us get on down the road!" yelled Little Ricky to the DPS officer.
Actually, he was not in a limo back then (as Lt. Gov.). He was in a B-I-G state-owned, chauffer-driven SUV. He was a petulant Republican asshole then; he is just another, of many, petulant GOP assholes now. The DPS speeding incident was all on video tape. I've seen it several times.

11. YUP. He's a f***ing asshole
thinks he's above the law. Well maybe Janklow will change that perception.

Demo - can you imagine in your wildest dreams talking like that to someone who pulls you over in TEXAS? Dear God.

13. I have a friend in Portland who strikes back
He's friends with a semi-famous paraplegic, and accompanies him sometimes on shopping trips and such, so he has gained an appreciation for how necessary those parking spots are.
When he sees someone with no placard park in a handicapped spot, he waits til they're inside the store and then lets the air out of their tires. I've seen him do it myself.

3. There's no excuse....
...for this. Hopefully. As a side note, I have a handicapped placard and you would be amazed at the people who intentionally park in those spots. They are easy to tell - they look around carefully for police when they leave their vehicle.

6. I agree...they know they're guilty
I have a placard, too, but I rarely use it.

I think those who park illegally show that the handicap is mental. (No offense meant to those truly mentally ill.)

12. My kingdom to have been there
w/my wheelchair blocking their exit until a police officer arrived to either ticket them or tow them away! (Photos a must!)

It was unintentional, my paralyzed ass! And :wtf: give the money to a charity?. How would that help the people that were barred from doing business there?

What many people do not realize, is that HC spaces w/hash marks are there so that we have space to safely get our chairs out of our vehicles.
