US seeks Baghdad security boost

The US is planning to deploy thousands of extra troops in the Iraqi capital,
Baghdad, in an attempt to combat the deteriorating security situation.

US President George W Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki are to meet
at the White House to discuss details.

US officials said the extra troops would be sent from other areas of Iraq.

White House spokesman Tony Snow admitted that a plan brought in six weeks ago
to improve security in the Iraqi capital "has not achieved its objectives".

So they're not sending more troops, they're just moving around the pieces on the chessboard.

We never had enough troops to secure the country. It's just simple geometry. There are more cops in NYC than we have troops in Iraq, how can they control a country the size of California?
