Car Bombing Kills 8 in Eastern Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A car bomb exploded Friday in an outdoor market in eastern Baghdad,
killing at least eight people and wounding 31, police said.

The attack happened at 10 a.m. in the Nahda area, police Lt. Ahmed Mohammed said. The market,
which sells old furniture, household goods and appliances, would have been especially busy
at the time, the start of the Islamic weekend.

Sgt. Sabah Muhsin, a hospital security official, said eight people were killed and 31 had
been brought to the hospital with injuries.
