MSNBC reports Rove believes he is in legal jeopardy
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 04:58 PM by demo dutch
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/MSNBC_reports_Rove_believes_he_in_0427.html

Rawstory - Thursday 8/27

Karl Rove has described his three and a half hour fifth meeting with a grand jury as "hell," and is more worried about being prosecuted than ever, MSNBC is reporting.

The three and a half hour duration is considered highly unusual for a fifth appearance before a grand jury, MSNBC's David Schuster reported. Schuster will be giving an updated report at 7pm EST.

Also not boding well for Rove is the fact that the grand jury plans to meet tomorrow. Some are speculating that an indictment for Rove may come in tomorrow, though others have claimed such a turnaround time is unlikely.

More later

P.S. You just know he was the one! remember this article from the NY times--

'92 election in TX & the other leak to Novak!!! and fired over it by Bush Sr.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/06/politics/06novak.html?ex=1280980800&en=82fbc90a181e61d6&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss

For those who don't remember... the incident was this---

Wikipedia on Rove
1992 George H. W. Bush presidential campaign
"Sources close to the former president George H.W. Bush say Rove was fired from the 1992 Bush presidential campaign after he planted a negative story with columnist Robert Novak about dissatisfaction with campaign fundraising chief and Bush loyalist Robert Mosbacher Jr. It was smoked out, and he was summarily ousted" (Esquire Magazine, January 2003). Robert Novak provided some evidence of motive in his column describing the firing of Mosbacher by former Senator Phil Gramm: "Also attending the session was political consultant Karl Rove, who had been shoved aside by Mosbacher." Novak and Rove deny that Rove was the leaker, but Mosbacher maintains that "Rove is the only one with a motive to leak this. We let him go. I still believe he did it." <27> (Sources: "Karl and Bob: a leaky history," Houston Chronicle, Nov. 7, 2003; "Genius," Texas Monthly, March 2003, p. 82; "Why Are These Men Laughing," Esquire, January 2003.)

13. It's possible he's squealing in order to AVOID indictment. Stay tuned.
If he does get indicted, I suspect there will be a collective sign of relief in Republican Congressional campaign offices around the country. In Rove's recent demotion, Bush gave him the job of running their campaigns!

47. FIVE times in front the grand jury? He isn't just talking about himself
Every time someone goes before the grand jury, they risk perjuring themselves, especially when they are caught in a tangled web of lies as Rove is. Each subsequent appearance in front of a grand jury causes that risk to rise exponentially. So Rove's lawyers would not let him go in front of the grand jury five times unless they thought it was somehow beneficial to him. How could it be beneficial? Perhaps his lawyers really do believe he can "set the record straight," but I doubt they are anywhere near that stupid. I suspect that instead they are hoping Rove can win some favors by rolling on others, perhaps the Vice President even.

Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead.

She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.

Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.

The Wicked Witch is dead!

58. Honestly?
I think it says that Tony wants to be close to the seat of power. He had a taste under Bush the Former, and he thinks he can change history. He wants those last few gasping years of this nightmare administration, to do the following:

**Gather material for his book, which he is convinced will be a bigger bestseller than THE FINAL DAYS.

**Use his artful powers of persuasion, his collegiality, and his many contacts to "save" the Bush Pretzelduncy, all by himself--because, see, he's SMARTER than everyone else! He's a media superhero!!! He believes that if that hubris-laden Monkey listens to HIM, instead of all those evil people around him, that he can turn the Titanic away from the iceberg and save the day!

That's really why I think he took the job. The wake-up call is gonna be ugly. He signed up to be savior, but the job description is scrubbing toilets.

The book may be more interesting than he presently realizes, but for other reasons--assuming he gives it all up and tells the truth at the end of the day!!

48. I don't think it will happen that fast
They've still got to go over his latest grand jury testimony and see how that fits in to previous testimony and the facts of the case as they have learned them. Even if they intended to indict Rove before hand (and I bet they did), they still need to be thorough in this process.

55. I t has arrived - Merry Fitzmas!!!
Today I am recommending to the grand jury that they indict White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Christian Rove on charges of perjury and lying to federal investigators. At this hour, I am still mulling over charges of obstruction of justice based on yesterday's testimony.

If 12 of the 23 jurists concur with my assertions and vote to indict I will schedule a press conference for Monday. If they require more time for deliberation then the grand jury will reconvene next Wednesday and I will then hold a press conference upon its conclusion.

Yours Truly,
Patrick
Fighting for truth, justice and the American way.

PS: A note to the mainstream media, pundits and newsreaders: You guys should really stop letting the defense counsel and Administration play you like a fiddle. All, but a very select few of you, look very foolish spinning this way and that and playing fast and loose without checking your facts, doing your homework or asking the tough questions. More importantly, you need to earn the trust of the American people back once again. After the bad examples set by Judy Miller, FOX News, Chris Matthews, and the Bob's - Woodward and Novak et al, you are despised almost as much the very evil doers I am prosecuting. Please straighten up and fly right your country needs you now more than ever.
