Official admits Iraq is in state of civil war
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200604/s1611868.htm

A senior official in the Iraqi government has for the first time said Iraq is in a state of civil war.

The deputy interior minister, Hussein Ali Kamal, was speaking a day after suicide bombers killed at least 70 people at a Shiite mosque in Baghdad.

A further 160 were injured when three suicide bombers struck the Bharatha mosque.

Abdullah Haziz Akim, the leader of Iraq's largest Shiite political grouping told a gathering of his supporters the aim of the attacks was to stop efforts to form a government of national unity.

But he said everyone had to work together, including Iraq's Sunnis to try to unify the country.

1. Stand by for the "clarification."
Shouldn't be more than twenty minutes before the "What I really meant was" comes at the direction of a Murkin Overseer.

Iraqis Mourn Victims of Attack on Mosque

Death Toll Near 80 in Mosque Bombing

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Friends and relatives of Iraqis killed in an attack on a Shiite Muslim mosque buried their dead Saturday, carrying coffins through the streets of several Baghdad neighborhoods. The death toll in the brazen attack rose to 85, the Health Ministry said.

In a new attack on Shiite Muslims, a car bomb exploded Saturday near a Shiite shrine, killing at least four pilgrims and wounding 15 others in the town of Musayyib, 40 miles south of Baghdad.

Mourners chanted religious rites and beat their heads and chests during the procession for Friday's dead in the Sadr City section of Baghdad. Children clung to each other and cried.

"We are the sons of one country and one religion," Jabar al-Maliki, a white-robed cleric, said at a funeral for three men, all shop owners between 28 and 35. "These criminal acts are conducted by corrupt, terrorist groups that ... have no sense of humanity."

Iraqi Shiites targeted in fresh communal strife

08/04/2006 16h22

BAGHDAD (AFP) - A suicide car bomber has killed six Shiite pilgrims Saturday as Iraq battled to thwart a fresh outbreak of sectarian bloodshed that killed 79 worshippers near a Shiite mosque a day earlier.

The car bomber killed six people and wounded 21 when he blew himself up on a road near the town of Mussayib, 55 kilometers (34 miles) south of Baghdad and home to a number of Shiite shrines, police said.

The latest gruesome attack on Iraq's majority community followed a triple suicide bombing at Baghdad's Baratha mosque on Friday.

Meanwhile, Iraq announced the discovery of crude oil reserves in northern Kurdistan's Zakho region, close to the border with Turkey.

11. Does he work for the Department of the Obvious?
Iraq has a civil war and thanks to Lord God Bush, we are stuck in the middle of it.

BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!!

Let the Iraqis enjoy the freedom of self-determination.

Anything the US sets up at the end of a tank barrel will disappear as soon as we leave.

Every soldier killed is a wasted life.

Killed by a corrupt corporate cabal that lied us into an unnecessary war.

20. The country could begin to unify by kindly asking the US....
to exit their supposedly SOVEREIGN oil rich country.

But he said everyone had to work together, including Iraq's Sunnis to try to unify the country.

Bomb kills four south of Baghdad

A car bomb has killed at least four people and injured 15 near a bank in the mainly Shia
Iraqi town of Musayyib, south of Baghdad, police say.

The blast came as funerals were taking place in Baghdad for 75 people killed when three
suicide bombers attacked an important Shia mosque in the city.

A senior government official has, for the first time, said Iraq is in a state of undeclared
civil war.

"Iraq has actually been in an undeclared civil war for the past 12 months," Deputy Interior
Minister Hussein Ali Kamal told the BBC's Arabic Service.
