President showing signs of losing support among Ohio Republicans
President showing signs of losing support among Ohio Republicans
Monday, March 27, 2006
Darrel Rowland and Catherine Candisky
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

While Donna G. Pariseau’s son was home from Iraq on leave, his squad was blown up in a Humvee.

Everyone was killed except the driver, who remains in a coma.

It was the driver who was taking her son Ethan’s place.

The Jackson widow said she was always a bit skeptical of the war but wanted to support her son. He tried returning to Iraq but couldn’t take it, eventually accepting a medical discharge.

Now she’s enraged.

1. what an honest article.....
i know it's true because i'm here in the good 'ol south, and i'm hearing the same rumblings from republicans who voted for the chimp in '00 & '04, and they are not happy campers. they were sold a bill of goods, and they feel as if they've been had, and rightfully so.

2. I'm glad they are coming around, but it's hard to hold my tongue. I have

relatives that voted the wrong way. All the information was right there in front of them, but they didn't want to see it. The goods were free, and they sucked it up in a frenzy like addicts. Now they want to feel sorry for themselves because they were "misled". I feel sorry for them the same way I feel sorry for someone who buys a bridge in Brooklyn.

5. Good! So maybe they'll take a pass on Blackwell
If Republicans are abandoning Bush, then Blackwell's loyalties could prove to be a rather huge liability for his campagin.

Well, no shit! Does this mean that she will vote against Blackwell in November?

9. better late than never
I think, but with the situation becoming such an overwhleming cluster fuck I'm not ready to forgive a single Republican, independent and for sure Democrats that voted for Bush. The democrats and independents I'll forgive after I'm allowed one good swift whack upside the head. Republicans, they can go fuck themselves.

11. The out of touch
We'll never be safe as long as there are 34% of these freakazoids out there:

"If we weren’t taking those people on there, they would be here. The terrorists seem focused on Iraq, which is much better than Columbus, Ohio," said Tom Scheiderer, a 61-yearold Republican from Logan County.

Yes, I distinctly remember Iraq poised off our shores ready to invade.

13. How about this guy
Jack Hart, 53, a Republican from Waverly who served in the Army for 26 years, said the United States is not "going to win that war tomorrow. Those people have been fighting for 3,000 years. You’ve got to stay the course."

OK, let's see if I have this correct -- we won't win overnight, they have been fighting for 3,000 years, we have to stay the course. Does that mean we have to fight in Iraq for 3,000 years too?

"If we weren’t taking those people on there, they would be here. The terrorists seem focused on Iraq, which is much better than Columbus, Ohio," said Tom Scheiderer, a 61-yearold Republican from Logan County.

First of all, Columbus is not in Logan county. There's virtually nothing in Logan county. Bro, I grew up in Columbus. I lived there for around 22 years. Trust me, Al Qaeda is not going to blow up the LeVeque tower. Easton is not a major target. Nationwide Arena is not a major target.

The fear these guys have put into normal, level-headed Americans is amazing.

15. Nice to see but I get the feeling this is a temporary mood.
They think that this admin is just an aberration. That their party will return to it's former 'glory'. Two, four, six years down the road they'll go right back because of some bullshit wedge issue.

These moranic voters don't know they've been getting screwed for decades by their own party. Tools.

16. I think the damage to the country may be too obvious
And the signs pointing to the Republican party too clear for the GOP to ever be the same after the chimp.

18. major problems
I haven't posted enough to start a new thread so I am posting here. I am begining to think the entire government is corrupted. How much worse can an adminstration fuck up the presidency? He's an obvious idiot. It's so obvious it's redundant to even mention it. Dan Quayle had a few mispoken moments, but Bush is like that raised to the 10th power. This administration is an abominable absuridity. How can our Democrat leaders not harp on his blatant idiocy to the point of nausea? How can this be? Are the writers of the Top Ten Conservative Idiots the only vocal cords of the entire country? There are simply too many fronts upon this assclown can be attacked. Check out dubbyaspeak.com - It records the unimaginable ridiculousness of this pure moron. Whitehouse.org tells it like it is; they say what Bush etc wants to say but can't. Where are the voices of reason? Why have impeachment proceedings not already started? The answer, I regret to suppose is that even the democrats have been paid off. What other answer is there? Deals have been made. The Democrats to whom we look for a response have been placated by back room negotiations which are not made public and are thus invisible to us. This administration gets what it wants, when it wants and seems to be immune to any oversight. The entire Bush Administration is a criminal arm of the Republican party and nobody seems to care. Where does it end? The endless war on terrorism gives them license to do anything they want to do. Our Constitution has been reduced to a pesky bump in the road to their unquenchable attempts to gain unchecked power. Can someone please comment? I have no idea how our government has become so um...retarded.

You're not alone in this. We've all recognized these things for years.

If you want to get involved, join the Activist group or call your representative (I'm sure someone has a list compiled).

Welcome, you're among friends now!

21. Firsts...

They're usually called the Democrats, Democratic Party or the Democratic leadership.

The first thing is not to use the same line that the NeoCons and media repeat: that absurd little monkier is an obvious taunt.

The second thing to keep in mind is that they need to do much more, but that they are not all silent. The Democratcs, by nature, are not lock-step like the RWers who have steamrolled their way over America for the past five years. If they figure out a way to push back hard hen they may stand a chance. I personally would like to see an all-out political war in Washington.

Noocular option be damned.

2006 is a very important year. If the Democratic leadership screw this one up then they might as well resign and hand over the reins to those will not screw it up.

Either that or get ready for a GOP dictatorship and civil unrest.
