Anderson takes Boozman to task on Medicare on First Day in the Campaign.

Woodrow Anderson III says he spent evenings and summers at his local community college while in high school, managing to earn an associate’s degree in pre-pharmacy before his senior year at Fort Smith’s Southside High School. Anderson, 33, whom friends and family call “Woody,” later earned two bachelor’s degrees and an MBA while serving in the Army Reserve and worked for businesses in Italy and Dallas before returning to Arkansas in late 2004 to help run family owned businesses in Fort Smith.

Now Anderson, a self-described conservative, pro-business Democrat who is just starting to raise campaign funds, is planning to seek U. S. Rep. John Boozman’s seat in Arkansas ’ 3 rd District, which hasn’t had a Democrat in office in nearly 40 years.

“One issue I’m passionate about is the federal deficit,” Anderson said Thursday after the Democratic Party of Arkansas announced that it will field him as its candidate. “We just increased the borrowing to an unprecedented level.”
