Tennessee may preserve DNA samples from some abortions

NASHVILLE, Tennessee Tennessee may be following the lead Kansas set last year on an abortion law.

The Tennessee state Senate has passed a bill that would require doctors performing abortions on girls younger than 13 to preserve a sample of the fetal tissue.

The bill's sponsor, Democrat Roy Herron, says the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation could use those samples for D-N-A tests to help prosecute rapists.

Even though the law isn't always clear about this, it's not really criminal for a 13 year old boy to have consensual sex with a 13 year old girl. It's not good for 13 year olds to be having sex with anyone, but it shouldn't be criminal. It should be a matter for parents to deal with.

That said, I still think this law is not a bad idea, depending on the wording and how it will be used.

older than they are. if an 18 year old man had consentual sex with a girl he thought was of consenting age, i don't think he should be prosecuted. does a young man with raging hormones have to ask a girl for her birth certificate?:dilemma:

11. have you seen some of these 13 year old girls. when my son

was 18 he brought home his girlfriend who i assumed was 18. or older she was 15 and i saw pictures that were taken of her when she was 13 -- she looked at least 18 then.

so don't feel bad. No 13 year old has the mental capacity or legal status to consent to sexual activity. JMHO...and I think the law.
